Infiniti, whatever happened to the Irish launch?

Last year I recall getting a Nissan brochure in one of the newspapers which also included Infiniti models that were to launch in Ireland in January 2009, did they abandon plans to do this?

AFAIK they're not terribly well equipped with diesel engines at the moment. If that is so they're wasting their time.

Hardly the best time to be launching a new brand is it, especially one aimed at the executive market.

Nissan have problems selling established main stream cars, cannot see it being any easier with ones aimed at the premium market.

IMHO, Nissan Irl have been the past masters at selling the automotive equivalent of weeds to the Irish car buying public, underestimate their marketing prowess at your peril.

If they have delayed the launch of the Infinti range it is for good reason.

Bodes Ill for the market in general.

I imagine the reason is that Infiniti's range only includes expensive cars with large petrol engines that Irish people treat like a disease, and the effect of that is only multiplied by the recession.
