Anyone know what is the current price per litre? In most of Eurpoean countries LPG is about 50% cheaper than petrol and a lot of cars are converted to run on LPG. Why there are no cars running on LPG here? The Green Party should do something about it, as it is clean, environmentally friendly fuel.

    Regards.

according to that ilpga website its 96c per litre. can't understand why it hasn't been pushed here. in the uk its huge and less than half the price of petrol.

Only works with carburettor type oldies... hence its decline I would say.

Virtually any engine can be adapted; and in many countries brand new cars are sold dual fuel LPG/petrol. The highest selling individual model of the Fiat Panda in Italy is the LPG model for instance - and the engine in that is most certainly fuel injected!

not so, works on any car - it has it's own injections system, in parallel.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

only 2/3 as efficient compared to petrol, so at 96 cent it does not make financial sense to use.

Yep, even if it match RUG efficiency at 96c plus installation plus difficulty locating supply plus loss of boot space makes it seriously unattractive. It would need reinstatement of conversion grants plus more favourable taxation on the fuel itself. I think its taxed similar to petrol here, hence the price. Hammertime might know more.

On a related note, as an alternative to LPG, try 30% e85 , 70% Petrol. Gives similar range to E5 (at less cost and minimal engine impact) if you have a turbo car assuming if you have balls to try it out. Dont bother on NA cars.

The efficiency goes down about 15-20%, not 1/3. Almost any (petrol engined) car can be adapted. But at 96c per litre it does not make any financial sense at all. At the next budget the use of LPG in cars should be on the table, as it is greener for the environment than petrol or Diesel.

    Happy Easter.
