    Hi all,

The missus is looking to get in the Italian channels, I would like to go for the UK freesat stuff at the same time as getting rid of UPC. We still have the remnants of the a previous Sky installation (dish and cables).

I have been looking around at the installers in the Dublin area and have spoke to one provider who has offered the following:

    Single dish with dual LNB
Single decoder (non HD) which will provide the capability of switching between the two satellites. The drawbacks of this (to me) is that there is no programme guide, just tells what is up next and that it is not HD.

For installation this will cost up to €400.

Can anyone tell me are there any better options around (aside from the DIY option)? Ideally I would like something that is a bit future proof (HD, recordable, upgradeable).

    Thanks in advance

You could use a freesat box and a free to air box but obviously this is more expensive as you will need another cable run and freesat receiver.

Thanks Tony, how much would I be looking at for that?

I'm sorry I cannot answer that as it may be construed as advertising.

Another option is to get a Foxsat HD Freesat receiver. This receiver will operate a Diseqc switch for the Italian channels while also giving you the full EPG for the UK channels as well as the HD channels.

+1 Thats an even better option as you only need one box.
