Any advice guys on which road bike should i get,, i,m looking at either a lappiere r lite 300 09 model or a specialized allez sport 09 model both around 750.00 to 850.00 euro price range... Want to get back into cycling and do a 2 hour approx sunday morning spin nothing to hectic, its mainly just to keep fit as i approach 40 years of age... With work commitments and i also play golf regulary only can find time for a 2 hour spin once a week every sunday morning..... Is 750 to 850 euro to much to spend on a road bike for my needs do u think....Had a giant road bike before so want to try a different make this time around......Would love some advice on this from all u road cycling experts out there please......... Thanks guys................

The Specialized has Tiagra which is a better groupset than the Lappiere's Sora and it is probably a better frame too. What is the price difference between the two? The wheels on both bikes are ok for that price with the Specialized cxp 22's probably stronger than the Shimanos WHR500s on the Lappiere.

    The Specialized looks better ;)

Hi sy, thanks a million for ur advice, i was in cycleways today havin a look but unfortunately they did not have the specialized allez sport in stock... The guy was very helpful though and said they will have it in a few weeks which suits me fine... Was just trying out frame sizes on another specialized model to see which suits me better... Guy says 56cm first then i said 58cm i think and neither of us were 100 percent sure which suited best... I am 5ft 10 and a half to 5ft 11 but i have long legs with a 33 inch inseam so i kind of favour a 58cm frame, whats ur opinion on the frame size.... specialized allez sport is 824.00 and lappiere is 845.00 with a10 percent discount so its approx 760.00..... Now heres the problem have a look on css website at lappiere r lite 400 at 1045.00 - 10 percent discount approx 945.00, i could probably get it for 900.00 if i haggle... I loved it but a bit to pricey for my needs maybe.. So 900.00 for lappiere r400 or 824.00 for specialized allez sport which would u go for....Thanks for all the advice...

This cycle shop gets good reviews from other Boards members but have never been and have no connection. They claim they will beat anybody on Specialized prices! Might be worth a phone call or Email
Regarding size I would say you are a 56 from your height and leg measurement, but if you tried a 58 and it suits you then go for it. Goood luck with purchase

Go with the Specialized I have last years model and it was the best of the lot that I tested I'm 6 foot and have a 32 inch leg and the 56 was grand. I actually got a longer stem 120 mm as opposed to the 100 that is stock and after a while I actually changed back so I would say go with the 56. The best thing about it on the road is it's totaly neutral and really well behaved , But still light enough to get you up the climbs and fast enough to get you grinning on the desents. Word of warning desending though, It gets twitchy when you are doing over 45 kmh on a desent. I upgraded my wheels at christmas and the differance is huge.
Enjoy using this bike to it's full. I don't think I'd part with mine even if I go full carbon. It's like a faithfull dog or somthing. ( and no it sleeps by itself in the shead)!

Remember the specialized is a sloping tube and its measured differently to say the likes of Giant and Trek. I am a little over 6'2 and I would be a 60 on say a trek but I have a specialized and I ride a 58, so in your case I would say your a 56.

Remember on a sloping tube it is normal to have plenty of seat post shown. And in regards to the link to worldwidecycles, Barry Meehan and Ray Clarke are excellent to deal with down there. They certainly know their stuff. Unfortunately you wont get much better on the price of the specialized from them as they are selling it at almost rock bottom.
