Recently bought a Scotty Cameron putter, 34 inch..My old putter was a 35 inch.. I love the putter but the 34 inch seems tiny now ! I want to add a half inch inch on to it in a pro shop...Not sure how they do it, but I know they dont take off the shaft they just extend it with a "plug" I heard, ie a little half inch shaft extension..Is this a complicated job?? Could it go wrong and ruin the putter?? Even if its done correctly, could it make it feel different to any other regular 34 and a half or 35 inch putter??
It was quite expensive, so Im abit worried it could feck it up..Also would there be any problems getting the grip back on it? It has a beautiful grip, wouldnt want to lose it.
    Thanks lads

No you shouldn't notice any difference in feel. The shaft of a putter is fairly rigid especially at the grip end. You could even put a wooden plug in the shaft to extend it and I doubt if you would notice.

Cheers..So your saying it should be ok and feel like any other 34 and a half inch shaft?? What about the grip??

There should be no issues with the grip. They'll use solvent to dissolve the glue and the grip will easily slide off.

Hopefully I'm not scare mongering here but different length scotty cameron putters usually have different head weights in them. So it might effect the feel of the putter. I don't know if yours is one of the scotty's with head weights or not.

As I said, I'm not trying to scare monger but it could. There's 10g of a difference per inch of shaft, so for half an inch it should be 5g, that might not seem like much but it could "feel" different. Its your choice but it is 200+ euro's worth of a putter!

One suggestion, if you know a fellow player who has a 35" Newport 2 why not ask to try his, or try one from a pro shop. If you arn't happy with that they no point risking an expensive putter, changing it and then finding you dont like it!

Half an inch will make, little or no difference to the feel. i've done this with hundreds of putter over the years, and we use very light weight aluminium extension that weigh very little. I would wager you'd not notice the difference at all. Lovely Putter too, thinking of getting one of the new ones too, I like the look of the FastBack version, where and how much?:p

I decided to go and get the half inch on it..Asked in the pro shop aswell, he said it should be ok, half inch is very little to notice a big difference etc etc.
    Thanks for the post DonkeyPutter;)
