Just bought a car with 18 inch alloys and low profile tyres. The car needs to be nct'd. Will these alloys have any problems in passing the NCT?

There shouldn't be any problem once they don't stick out pasth the wheel arch or rub on any of the suspension components or bodywork.

What car is it as some higher spec models come with 18" wheels as standard.

That depends on the car. Putting 18" wheels on a 10 year old clio is asking for problems, but on a 4 year old 5 series there would be no issues cos long as the tyres are the right size

Shouldn't be a problem once the wheels are the correct offset.

Heavier replica wheels (if thats whats fitted) will put extra strain on the gearbox, which is not a good thing with vw boxes as they are not very strong to start with.
    Is it a 1.4/1.6 5speed?
