Its a Civic with a boot. Probably go cheap too, the boy racers will love this.

I'm def not a boy racer but I love it!!!
I'd buy one, especially if it was available with a 2.0

Out of luck for now :o
At present the Koup is only planned for the US market and will not be coming to Europe.

I think it's really nice. Aren't Kia part of Hyundai though? And the Hyundai Coupe is well established.

Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tuscon are just badge engineered.

Toyota's new 1.6 produces 136 IIRC. I know that's good for a 1.6, but is 156 not a little poor given that it's probably new technology?

Wow, looks like a solid and well made unit. Stick a Euro badge on there and no one would question it!

The name though, I thought "coupe" is meant to be pronounded coo-pay, calling it it Koup (although a nice play on words) would suggest the "correct" pronounciation is cooop. The only people I know that say that are like really old school..

Spirtual successor to the Hyundai Coupe.

In fact I would not be surprised if Hyundai offer their version of this car in Europe to plug the gap for a cheap fwd coupe to replace the Coupe once the new Genesis coupe moves up market and uses rwd.

Funny, I pronounced it in my head as "coup", as in stirring sh*t up, overthrowing what's already there, bringing something different to the table...

I presume their eye is firmly fixed on the American market where coop is the proper pronunciation. The Hyundai S Coupé was known as the "scoop" there!

their 2.0 turbo diesel can get an approved kia re-map to 170 brake. That'd be a nice mix!

I was actually expecting this to look good. For a hatchback the pro_ceed or whatever it's called is a daycent-lookin' thing.

At 156bhp is a coupe in looks only.

a coupe is always about looks ...as it defines a form of car body shape, not the engine :D

It's pronounced 'coop' in the US (remember the Beach Boys' song 'little deuce coupe'). The correct pronunciation is 'coupay', from the french word meaning cropped - 'coupé'.

I know a coupe is a body style :). But this is another car that's styled so well, with it's twin exhauts etc, so as to say "hey, I'm a sports car" until you look at the spec.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Looks like the Toyota Levin became a father at age 16. A bit like a typical owner :pac:

Don't care what anyone says, but i really like it! Interior looks good too.

Bit disappointing to be only getting 156bhp from the 2.0 engine. Kia are improving, would anyone agree? Just need to shake of the tag of "Cheap as Chips"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,676 ✭✭✭ArphaRima

Front looks like a ford, back looks a little like an old alfa, and the wheels look fake. Inside looks nice in that spec actually..

Its not underpowered exactly for the irish market(because Irish people always buy engines that underpower their cars), but it gets a distinct thumbs down from me.

Nice car. Bit of the new Scirocco to it on the side, interior looks like something from transformers
