Would you choose to be a Jedi or a Sith

Looking at the replies in another thread - The Purge - The Jedi's fault?
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=59763186#post59763186

The way i see it is The Jedi and Sith are not good/bad. So i thought a POLL. So say you lot had the force what powers would you embrace?

Jedi: i dont like them, they are liers but not for a reason - They say they want peace but over the last 1000 years of the jedi order thats 1000 years they dont seem to care of have any interest and have made no attempts to elimanate slavery in the galaxy (tatoiane - or howevery our spell it - are you telling me the entire power of the mighty jedi order over hundreds of years could not end slavery on that little rock? - They should have been able to do it everywhere and extend their reach beyond that of the republic's. The Jedi dont serve the interests of the republic - only protecting and aiding what is within its borders), The resources go into nice temples that must cost a fair few credits - People suffering all over the universe and the jedi sit in their temple saying they serve the force. And if thats not enough the republic which the jedi ally themselves with spends countless millions on pointless things like city's that span entire planets.

Sith: i like the sith - unlike the jedi the force serves them not the other way around. The sith are honnest and have a code just like the jedi. Sith may conspire against one another but from history we know true growth comes from conflict. The Emperor as he is portrayed makes very little sense but it is cannon unfortantly. The books and games do the sith allot more justice. They never once explained what the emperor wanted and why but aside from that i see the Sith as the more powerfull and the more deserving to live. The Jedi order had its time and during that time it could have helped more than it did.

We will never know how the entire galaxy under Sith control would have been. Im guessing less suffering galaxy wide compared to republic rule.

Truth be told i would use "dark force" powers which would make me a sith but i dont belive that i would "fall to the dark side" surly i could just be Grey neither light nor dark but using my powers as i see fit and for my own bennifit and the betterment of the world around me?

Still i would want to be a Sith Lord

Does Grey count - its been mentioned elseware but the movies have only dealt with good/bad dark/light no inbetween like the books and games

Oh and the poll refers to the Sith that we know from the movies/games/books not the "true sith". Im talking about humans and aliens to follow the Sith code and not the anchient Sith

Gray Force User - I've never really been a conformist, and I'd have trouble subjugating myself to a group who expect perfect obedience.

I went for Grey Force aswel, dont like the structure of the jedi and like mentioned above, the obedience etc

Would be more of a loner using my powers for myself, not necessarily against the jedi or anything like that though

While it is true the Sith have more power and a greater command of the Force, the Jedi have more control over their use of the Force.

The idea of "with great power comes great responsibility" comes into play here. We've all seen what the Sith do with their powers through the books and games. While I would seek to improve myself and learn as much about the Force as possible and it's use, at the same time I would balance it with self-restraint. The fact that I have power doesn't mean I have to use it, especially in the way Sith do.

As such, I chose the Jedi.

I'm gonna go Gray. the Sith are all about personal gain and to hell with anyone that gets in the way. The Jedi are to restricted. all these rules about no attachment. unless you can walk a mile in a mans shoes how can you judge his actions?

teh core belief system of the Jedi is ancient, i think this is part of the reason for their failure. they are too rigid in their actions. Sometimes the end does justify the means

But arent the Sith Self destructive ?

Its more about power with them, they are not self destructive but they believe any Sith can challange his/her master at any time - the two battle and the victor is stronger for it. Also they are always on alert 100% of the time for a challange can come at any time

    - I dont think yoda used to wonder if mace would have a go at him in the Jedi temple

I always had a problem with the term "Grey Force User".

It's not a case that if you're good, your Jedi, or if you're bad your a Sith. Even if you follow their teachings. The Jedi and Sith were Orders, proprietary in a way. For example, a person who dresses like a Guard and goes around solving crimes isn't a member of An Garda Siochana. How one uses the Force doesn't make them part of either of these "exclusive clubs". They have be accepted into the Order; join the club effectively. And once joined you have to follow the rules (particularly with the Jedi Order).

So, in turn, what is a Grey Force User?? People's opinion of good and bad differ greatly. What is evil to one man is not to another. Just because someone isn't a Jedi or Sith doesn't mean they automatically combine both teachings. They could be complete users of the Dark Side, and not be a Sith. The same can be said for those who use the Light not being Jedi. They could one or the other, a combination of both, or have their own teaching altogether. There would be nothing stopping a bunch of Force users getting together and starting a group called the Abc Order. How would you class them?? You can't without a proper look at their teachings.

So calling someone a "Grey Force User" imho makes no sense whatsoever. They're just a Force user that doesn't belong to either the Jedi or Sith clubs...

some good points - grey as you pointed out is non jedi or sith, i wouldnt have bothered making loads of options like good dark force user because then people would say its not cannon because it wasent in the 6 movies blah blah blah.

for arguments sake i thought a 3rd neutral option

Oh ya I understand that totally. I wasn't making the point at the poll specifically. I was just making the point generally as a lot of people think there is either Jedi or Sith, and use of either side's teachings automatically makes you belong to that Order.

For example, the Force Unleashed, when the apprentice
decides one day he's all of a sudden a good guy. He's meditating, and Juno says, what are you doing. He says Jedi meditate, bla bla. She says, have you ever done this before. And he replies, "I've never been a Jedi before." Ehhh, dude, you can't just decide your a Jedi now you're a good guy!!
That's my point. Being a Jedi or a Sith is essentially the same as getting membership accepted to any other exclusive club. It has nothing to do with the Force or how it is used.

ah ffs dont get me started on that ****e game TFU

ok well you did get me started

    worst SW game ever.

camera angles are total bollox and you cant change the controlls so that ****ing drove me nuts. i didnt bother player it - watched someone else play it just for the story but boy was that a **** game.

My idea of Grey if a force user is one who does not belong to either order.

Jole Bindo from KOTOR 1 for example - although he was a tad too light

But you could have someone who is totally committed to the Dark Side but not a Sith. They're not Grey, they're Dark. Just not Sith.

Yoda's cooler than just about anyone on the Sith side, save for Anakin/Vader. My pick went to being a Jedi.
