 I am having trouble setting up my Belkin USB Wifi dongle with my Macbook Pro (Leopard 10.5.6)

I want to try it out with my mac instead of the built-in airport card.

Any advice on how to get this running ?

    BELKIN 802.11G 54MBPS - F5D7050

I have googled the model number and I have downloaded 2 sets of drivers for it : First from the Belkin support website, but that states compatibility with 10.3. Secondly, after reading online I downloaded the Ralink drivers for Leopard but still no luck ...

I have this working with my Windows XP machine but I'd love to get it working with my Mac

Any help with this is greatly appreciated :P

I'm not familiar with that specific adaptor but I know that a manufacturer like Belkin and D-Link often brand them with a model number and a Version number or letter. For example it might say something like Rev. C on the Belkin unit somewhere.

Why is this important ? Well a Rev. A device might use a Ralink chipset while the Rev. C might be Atheros or some other maker like Realtek. Obviously all will require different drivers to work.

Check the unit carefully to see if there is anything like this and then we might be able to help. This page on Belkins site shows how to identify their units.

    Good luck.
