Hi all, just discovered this thread! my eyes are -5 (R) and -4.30 (L) but i have pretty bad astigmatism in my left eye. anyway i have had contacts for a few years but really only wear them now and again! i only have the normal specsavers contact lenses for both my eyes - am i right in saying there are special lenses if you have astigmatism? and are they more expensive? i think i'd be more inclined to wear them if i could see properly out of both eyes as vision in my left eye is fairly blurry with the normal contacts in! but at the same time im not going to spend a small fortune on lenses that i only wear now and again anyway!

ive got them...weird that specsavers would give you regular lenses?
I dunno how much of a difference there is in price as i always got the adjusted ones,

went in today to get contacts. i was goin for dailies because i mightened be wearing them all the time, but because i have an astigmatism they said all they could give me was monthlies. she said something about ordinary lenses - that you could see through them but you wouldnt have proper vision with them!

I have astigmatism and I have been wearing lenses for over a year now started off with dailys with no problems [optician never mentioned there being a problem] then went on to bi-monthlys again with no problems.
I have never been told that astigmatism would have any effect and I asked about it too.

I wear daily disposable 1-Day Acuvue for Astigmatism by Johnson and Johnson. They are very good in my experience. I came to them from rigid GP and my optician also tried me on the non-astigmatic version first but my vision with them just wasn't good enough. The astigmatism correcting version really makes a big difference.I think they are limited in the axis/cylinder combinations but in most cases they can find something that works.

Hi all I have an stigmatism also and am using Focus Dailies Toric. They're grand but awfully expensive (~€200 for 2 months worth) and would like to change to monthlies as they're around the same price for 6 months.

Unfortunatley I can't find any where the base curve (8.6) and cylinder (-0.75 and -1.50) match my current dailies exactly.
(Nearest I can get 8.6 base curve and -1.75 cyl instead of -1.50)

So the question is will it make a huge amount of difference?
I can do without 20/20 vision if it means I'll save €400.

    Thanks.

A question you should ask your optician I think. I suspect it wont make much difference but what do I know? Ask a professional.

i have been using focus dailies toric for about 2 years now. Was using normal dailies before that but like you my vision wasnt the best. The toric are more expensive especially when you buy directly from opticians but I now order mine online www.yourlenses.ie and they are almost have the price. One month cost 54 euros and quick delivery. I get same prescription for both eyes although there is a difference my vision is great with them though compared to the normal focus dailies.
