    Hi,

Today my little niece has spilled a packed of crisps all over my computer keyboard, they are everywhere! Is there anyway I can get in behind all the buttoms to clean them out?

    Thanks!

Hold the keyboard upside down and give it a shake, then just give it a sweep of a hoover with the furniture brush attachment if you have one. Works for me.

Have held it upside down a good few times and shaked it around, theres still some inside it!:(

You could open it if there are screws on the underside, keyboards are generally a simple enough affair on the inside.

Ear buds dipped in washing up liquid or disinfectant are handy for cleaning between the keys.

A can of compressed air (from Radionics, Peats, Maplins or E-Bay) is ideal for cleaning out dust - the brand name is something like Air Duster. Looks like a can of shaving foam but has compressed air inside it - a plastic flexibale "straw" attaches to the nozzle and this allows you to direct the pressurised air.

Cleaners that come around to our workplace once a year to clean all the IT gear: Keyboards, mice, screens etc.

When they are cleaning keyboards, they use a disenfectant spray and a regular paint brush.

Yes a paint brush. Seems to do the trick and removes most crap stuck in the keyboard handily enough.

Worth a try if you have a clean one handy.

Dry Pint brushs are also handy for any pre painting jobs were dust or rust has gathered .

    That's correct.

They probably won't work afterward, but you can do it...

On my brothers laptop, it was getting kind of "furry".. which i hope was mostly dust (but then again, hes a student, so the laptop is wrecked after about 3 years)
anyways, i got a cheap make up brush for applying blusher, (big with soft bristles, can be bought or found anywhere) and made it ever so slightly damp and it worked a fair bit) doesnt work as well for normal keyboards though, but its worth a try!

As daft as it sounds, what about blowing/sucking through a straw?
If necessary, squeeze one end to make it finer and get between the button spaces!

Suck up stale crisps or dust or ...worse?
But blowing through it works, just needs to be turned upside down and shaken if it wont come out!

    Oh dear, this sounds bad..

Thanks for all the replies guys. Have got most of them out, the paint brush was what I used.

By the way, for future ref, how do I get all the keys out?

LOL I was going to make a joke about sucking rather than blowing but thought ...naaa, I better not. lol. :pac:
    Anyway, I'd blow before I'd suck! :D

Glad to hear your nearly sorted OP.

It depends on the keyboard really. For my old Dell one I just got something like a pen and stuck it under the keys and lifted it out.
