Hi folks just a quick one.

In a couple of hours I have a guy coming to my house to upgrade from ordinary sky to sky+HD

Currently a cable is coming from our dish into our attic.

It is connected to an AMD08 amplifier ? and then there are other cables coming out of this box going to other rooms in the house.

There seems to be 2 input connections on the box, one of which is being used at the moment.

My question is this, will we able to get sky+HD connected to this same box, or do we have to get something else ?

I know nothing about how all this works and as I said there is a bloke coming at 1600 to install the sky upgrade.

    Please advise soonest !!!

    Thanks.

Sky HD is the same as Sky + , it uses 2 inputs from the dish LNB to the box.

    Thanks for that.

It all worked out ok and it is up and running.

Another quick question if I may......

As mentioned I have a box in my attic that has the cables from the dish going into it and then various leads going around to other rooms in the house.

So, I have a spare sky box, and a spare viewing card. I now want to try and get the free-to-view channels in one of the other rooms. Do I just bring a cable from the tv point in said room to the back of the spare sky box ? I have tried this but keep getting the "no signal" message. I have tried it with the spare card in, and without any card, both with no joy.

Can anyone give me a hand to get this up and running ?

    Ta.

You need to bring another cable from the LNB (on Satellite dish) to the spare box.

you should have 2 spare connections on it.

    Bugger.

If I had known that yesterday, I would have got the installation guy to bring another cable from the LNB in.

So I guess it is no free-to-view for me then unless I get the guy back again.

    So to clarify,

    with my current set-up, ie.

2 lines coming from dish into the AMD08 in the attic, a number of cables coming from the AMD08 to various rooms in the house,

means that whatever is being watched on my Sky+HD box on my main tv, is all that can be watched in the other rooms at the same time?

I really should have been more prepared yesterday and got the installer to give me what i needed (besides a kick in the arse!) :pac:
