I'm able to control the volume with UPC remote although its not changing the volume on the TV itself, just the UPC box.

I tried entering codes for my brand of TV but it doesn't seem to change the volume (or anything) on the TV.

Which remote / digibox is it? The UPC remote can definitely do this. To point out the obvious (in the hope of being helpful :) ) You have to press the TV button.

My set up was UPC remote could turn on / off TV and change TV volume. The NTL branded boxes could not do this but the UPC one can. :)

I was able to control the volume for a long time and one day it stopped working. It will turn off the TV ok. found the codes on the UPC site but they haven't worked with the volume (sony)

I tried those codes from the dutch website. Can't get them to work.
The volume control ( code 993 I think? ) works but it is relative to your tV volume,so if Digibox remote is up full but TV is v low, the v low will be the max, if you see what I mean.

Can you get your DVD player to respond to UPC Remote? I tried to programme it, but everytime I press the DVD-R button it switches to analogue TV.

I bought a 10 in 1 remote and it does not work at all!!! Picks up nothing!!!!!

I am having a trying techno week here. Think I'll just go for a walk.

Here's a list of the manuals, and indeed codes from the upc website.

    http://www.upc.ie/service/?cid=124&aid=94

For the record i have the mediabox (third one down on that website) and it works grand with both my telly and dvd player. Ive a sony dvd player though and it didnt work with any of the sony codes in the manual, so i had to set the UPC remote to find the code manually (the 991 method, page 8 of the manual) and i got it to work eventually.

As for controlling the volume, i found its better to set the UPC box volume up to the maximum, then just forget about it, and set the remote to just control the TV volume. You can however set it up so that the volume button on the remote controls either the TV, UPC box itself or even your dvd player (for 5.1 speakers or whatnot)

    Heres how to do that:

For controlling the volume on the UPC box itself:
    1. Press the UPC Button
    2. Hold down the "OK" and "red" buttons until the UPC button flashes twice
    3. Enter 993 and the UPC button will flash twice again
    4. Now press the volume up button, the upc button will flash four times

    For controlling TV volume:
    1. Press the UPC Button
    2. Hold down the "OK" and "red" buttons until the UPC button flashes twice
    3. Enter 993 and the UPC button will flash twice again
    4. Now press the TV button, the upc button will flash again

And for controlling the dvd volume:
    1. Press the UPC Button
    2. Hold down the "OK" and "red" buttons until the UPC button flashes twice
    3. Enter 993 and the UPC button will flash twice again
    4. Now press the DVD-R button, the upc button will flash again

    hope that was some help

just a little follow-up really, if ya set the remote to control the UPC box volume (the first method ^^^^), ya can still control the TV volume by just pressin the TV button, so its handy for controllin both.

I had the box replaced today.

I have found the code (tks for info above) and the volume now works but only when the TV button has been pushed. This means I have to then hit the UPC button to change over. The UPC button controlled it all before the digibox broke.

Last time the representative didnt even turn up. This time i told them not to ring my wife when they were saying how long they'd be and they still rang her.

    Man, UPC suck.

Well, 2 weeks ago, I rang UPC for the code to turn on/off a new telly I'd got. Agent told me that UPC remotes can no longer turn on/off the tv:confused::confused::confused:She did, however give me the code to control the volume.:(
