Anyone else noticed UTV have intorduced DOG onscreen this morning?

Very faint at the minute but have feeling it's soft launch of more permenant prominant DOG.

Think it's time we complained to UTV..Anyone have an e-mail address for them?

It has been there for a few days apparently. Don't know if they would accept complaints from down south though.

They accept generally over half their advertising from down here...

I am guessing they want to distinguish themselves from TV3 and ITV hence the dog. It is very faint, I don't often watch UTV so I only noticed during the day last week and now tonight.

They have lost huge numbers of viewers from ROI, BBC 1 and C4 are both charging ahead of them (Yet they have both lost viewers too), from 3rd place 10 years ago to heading for 7th place, hard to stomach when you think that most of their money during the 1990's was from ROI.

A placement on the ROI Sky EPG was always a priority for UTV, but TV3 (ITV Ireland in all but name) nixed that.

Hence falling viewing figures during the significant migration of Irish viewers from cable to Sky - watching TV3, not UTV.

And a certain amount more divided between STV and ITV1 on sky. UTV is dreadful needs to smarten up it makes TV3 look good.

They had a new look on Monday (no surpises if you didn't notice, the idents are much the same as before but with a wierd blue background instead of black) and the introduction of the DOG is part of this. It's very transparent - a lot of the time you have to squint to see its there - but I don't think there is really any excuse for it.

Noticed the "dog" the other night and thought that looks a bit pointless but does it actually bother people that much, half the channels out there have some type of logo on the screen.

I think for UTV it is possible a major thing for them to have a DOG due to the other Irish Channel having them and again to distinguish them from TV3 down south. What ever I have to say about UTV and whatever of the pointlessness of a DOG in the digital age (everyone will soon have an EPG) their dog is the best because you can barely see the thing.

Has anyone a screen shot of this? I don't have access to UTV at this time.

Compared to the RTE and TV3 monstrosities this DOG is a breath of fresh air. You can hardly notice it. If a DOG needs to be there, surely this is the way to do it.

Yeah TG4s used to be as light, but smaller.

No need for DOGs anymore with Digital.

I thought it was called BUG not DOG.

It can be called either a DOG or a BUG. DOG stands for Digital On-screen Graphic which is an oxymoron since all TV Graphics are Digital and on screen.
