Sousa sacked by QPR

Championship side Queens Park Rangers have sacked manager Paulo Sousa with immediate effect.

Sousa had only been in charge at Loftus Road since November, taking over a month after Iain Dowie left the club.

But the former Portugal international's position in West London had come under scrutiny following the recent departure of Dexter Blackstock to Nottingham Forest.

Blackstock joined Forest on loan last month, but Sousa revealed after last week's clash with Crystal Palace that the deal for the striker had been done without his consent.

Skysports.com revealed that Sousa was holding crisis talks with the QPR board following the disagreement over Blackstock's exit.
His criticism of the decision has now cost Sousa his job, with Gareth Ainsworth being placed in caretaker charge for the second time this season.

A club statement read: "Queens Park Rangers Football Club has today (Thursday) had to terminate Paulo De Sousa's employment with the club with immediate effect.

"It came to the club's attention that Mr De Sousa had, without authority, divulged highly confidential and sensitive information. The club, with legal advice, responded in this way to protect its position.

"Player/coach Gareth Ainsworth will take caretaker charge on a temporary basis, from now until the end of the season."
Sky Sports News understands that Sousa 'strenuously denies' the allegations made by QPR.

Sousa leaves QPR in 10th spot in the Championship, having won seven of his 26 games in charge in all competitions, drawing 12 and losing seven.

Sounds like the Newcastle of the Championship. SSN were going through the amount of managers they have had in the last couple of years last night, it was ridiculous.

Yea, its 4 managers and two caretaker managers in 18 months.

With all the money there is supposed to be there the men at the top need to let the purse strings loose.

Going nowhere unless some quality is brought in.

Some terrible signings lately, Miller being top of the pile.

Rich folks who like the idea of owning a club but have no idea how to run one.

Those owners are making an absolute balls of running the club. Read a good piece from a while back in FourFourTwo where they interviewed Flavio Briatore. He reckoned they wouldn't be interfering at all in first team plans and Sousa had full backing to sign who he wanted etc. Talk is cheap eh? Apparently Dowie left because he was forced to play some player the owners bought off Real Madrid B'.

Thought they would definitely be promoted this season mind you.

More than most clubs outside the sky 4 managed

Liverpool fans must be bitchy after resigning to another season of sweet nothings and having tied down Mr.Zonal for a long term contract, must be tough for Everton to be the first club in Merseyside to play at the new Wembley also, in fact Tranmere will probably play there before Livepool.:P

ffs, enough of this petty bickering like children. I know the pubs are closed and all, but how about ye embrace your fellow man.

Or else, quit arguing about wildly off topic rubbish. This thread is for discussion of QPR. Thanks.

Well, the amount of managers is certainly damning. However, I think the fact that they have focused on acquiring players with experience at Championship level rather than opening the chequebook for overpriced (in terms of wages) has beens in their thirties is the way to go about building this team up in a sustainable fashion.

Yep, they're having teething problems, but the money is going to make the difference over the long haul. I still expect them to be in the Champions League by 2014...
