    Hey guys,

Just bought a fishman humbuker pickup to go along with my taylor big baby. I was just wondering if its possible to record from that to my computer?

I have the guitar cable to 3.5mm converter but when I try to record its not sounding right. If anyone can shed some light that would be great.

    Thanks.

Most of them pickups are just so you can play through a PA in a bar and be heard.... for any kind of real nice authentic acoustic sounds you should be looking into micing :)

Sorry, just my view.... in what way is it not sounding right? im guessing not caturing the actual tone of the guitar?!?

Yea thats exactly it. Not coming out properly at all. Im going to return the pickup and get a condenser mic (is this right?). Ill let you know how I get on.

    Cheers!

Be aware that condenser mics require power so either make sure you can send 48v to the mic through your mixer or choose a condenser mic that can takes batteries or has its own power supply.

Alternately you can get reasonable results with a decent dynamic mic.

Woah there Tazer. I think you re being led down the wrong track here.
What do you man it doesn't sound right? How exactly are you recording it?
    What software? What input? etc.

When refering to buying a condenser mic do you mean you are buying one of the fishman sound hole condensers? Or a rare earth blend or something? Or are you having your pickup removed from your guitar and buiyng a seperate condenser?!?
True, the soundhole condensers do sound more natural and a blend of that and under saddle can produce good results but I think your main problem is in how you are recording here! And onboard condensers have batteries to power them.

FWIW, try Schertler pickups too. Not piezo like the others and sound very very good.

I just got a line six tone port last week with an sm57. When I figured out I needed a program,(I got reaper)it worked a treat. A bit of a hum because I haven't a clue how to use any of the gear but the instrument sounds good on the pc.

Hey guys, thanks for the help.

Went down today and got a Boss Micro BR. Its working well and its an impressive product but its still not what I want. I cant even use it with the pc. I was talking to a mate that does music production and he said get Pro tools M-Audio and a condenser mic like the CAD GXL2400. Do you think this would be a good choice? I heard the software for it is very good.

    Would anyone recommend it?

    Thanks guys.

Hmmm. Look, above all else, if you want to record with your computer you need some sort of interface.

Yea, the M-Audio comes with the pro tools software and its allows you to record live to the pc through the hardware via USB. Ill let you know how I get on when I get it.

    Thanks for the help.
