Engine decided to release all its oil @ 100 on the M7 yesterday night. As sson as I heard a rattle and the oil a third pressure I put it into neutral and coasted up a slip lane. I haven't looked yet as I know that there's probably shards in the exhaust!

Was cheered up though by the driver of the collection truck. He was late because he just got delivered an immaculate black 1970 Dodge charger RT with a nitros bottle the size of my torso! I'm not joking it seemed that big! I have photos I just need to figure out how to get them posted. The car is in the kildare region....you can't miss it.

You might be lucky, as long as the engine still had some oil, the damge might be light.
Try breaking the timing belt on a 94 Discovery doing 120 Km on the M50.
All I'll say is, new pants were needed.

Or how about the same vehicle and the front prop shaft breaking at 80 Km, frighting
Not driving it anymore, I didn't want to PUSH my luck.

Keep us updated on what you find

If you have the cable that came with your phone you can transfer them through that. Bluetooth may be another option. Sorry to hear about your car, fingers crossed it's not too bad.:)

Tasty lookin' machine! It's good to see a Charger that hasn't been 'General Lee'd' for a change.

Ok...this is the story with my car. I have a fully charged battery etc. However the engine would not turn over with any conviction. Opinions please... I think I have probably melted the engine together!! Am I wasting time by replenishing the oil etc or does this sound like engine replacement time?:(

Is there any oil in it or did it lose it all?

I suppose you could throw in a couple of litres of cheap stuff and then try turning it over... but I suspect it's knackered.

Where did it release its oil from?

Not a drop! I did get the car serviced about a month ago, the guy had serviced the car before with no problems. I either burned it off because the rover v8 is known for high oil usage or it leaked out. I never got any oil drips where the car has been parked. TBH any oil leaks on the tarnac are under neighbour spots. I can't see where I lost the oil from. The car was in the garage to get a section of the exhaust welded about two weeks ago, maybe something was damaged then? Is there a posibility that if the garage used a newer oil with finer particles that it just dripped through the engine? 20W50 is what recommened for older V8s.

Engine just died, pulled over (as I still had forward motion) tried to turn over engie, it turned over very fast. Towed back to yard and on examination, found the TB had broken. Several push rods and a new head,TB etc, got her back on the road.......Till the prop shaft went.
She has since gone to the great scrap yard in the sky, with her engine, axles and other vital parts transplanted to another vehicle.

funny, engine never gave me any more problems.

    Engines Dead.:(

However there is some light at the end of the tunnel. I am currently sourcing a new engine. Hopefully a new rover V8 4.0/4.6L, but would consider a good second hand engine from a Range Rover or a TVR (the chances) if anyone knows of one.

I have purchase all the add on goodies such as a nice weber system etc. Now my problem is how to get the car to mohammed or mohammed to the car? JRV8 in Ballymena is a fair distance to push

I have a good secondhand 3.5L V8 from a Range Rover for sale - Hand on heart, it has just 20k miles on it from new. I stripped and rebuilt the heads, and haven't got around to doing anything else with it since then. It's in workable condition though, and could be ideal if it's what you need. Will need some parts and a little work to finish putting it back together, but I can help you with this if you want....

    PM me or call me,

    Gil

    GIL,
I PM'd your earlier as I missed the post up-date. David.

Lads, does anyone know where I can hire a car trailer? Possibly for Kildare to Wicklow or Kildare to Meath?

That's cool - just left you a VM with my number. Could likely arrange a loan of a trailer to transport it if you're stuck too, in exchange for a few beer tokens for the owner.
