having looked at the site i must say i don't get it.

    maybe i'm missing something but...

i work for someone for free > so that they can keep their costs down > in the hope that they will eventually employ me full time????

the site not very attractively designed and what the hell is the ''keep ireland moooving'' thing about? are they giving away free milk????

besides - if you're on a social welfare payment and they find out you're working somewhere - whether getting paid or not - you're at risk of losing your payment as you are not genuinely available for work on those days.

maybe its like giving people trials before they hire? or people that want to break into an area where they have no experience and want to gain some to see if they are suited for it?
like i said still trying to get my head around it myself!
ha ha "moooving"...free milk lol.. good one ;)

Hi, this is Tom here, one of the co-founders of the Talent Tank initiative. The site was only launched last Monday, so as the media starts to cover the initiative then we are hoping that the number of employers involved will grow.
You are right about ‘desperate people’ using this website - I had been happily contracting for the last 12 years until the recession came about. I was desperate, I would offer my skills and experience for free to a potential employer, if it meant getting an opportunity to ‘get a foot in the door’.
We don’t expect that this initiative will suit all Industries or for that matter, all Individuals. But if it helps one person to get a job then it will have been worthwhile.
It is important to note that we do not match or place - Individuals / Employers. Everybody using the site should do so at their own discretion.
We are trying to do something positive, trying to give people a new option. I am sorry that the site looks ugly - I would greatly appreciate any tips or advice as to how we could improve the look. If anybody wants to discuss the initiative in greater detail please feel free to call me 1890 646 866
    Lets keep Ireland Mooooooving (sooooooooooorrryyyy)

Can't see why anyone would ever see any problem with this website, people such as myself who are currently unemployed, and have nothing much to do, are provided with a means to get in contact with potential employers.

I guess its a form of networking in a way, an unpaid internship, it happens, its useful, good on the guys who set up the site!
