    how to grow veg and herbs on a plot of land at the back of my house. Please recommend suitable books and website links that will help me become more knowledgeable. Thx.

    The garden expert by Dr. DG Hessayon is a good book to start with..

    There is a whole range of expert books by him and I use them constantly....

    You can't go wrong with "The Vegetable and Herb Expert" by Dr. D. Hessayon.
    It's perfect for the newbie garden.
    Well laid out and explained clearly with diagrams for everything. You'll find it in any good bookstore.....

    "The Organic Garden Book" by Geoff Hamilton is excellent, even if you're not into organic gardening as such.
