I'm playing in a 4 person team event thing in Laytown and Bettystown on Saturday. Not sure what the format is yet but it should be a laugh. Haven't played up there in years.

Hoping to get playing somewhere tomorrow in the Kells/Trim area,
Hoping that my girlfriend, who is coming up to my house for the weekend, doesnt wake up before 12 on both saturday and Sunday so I can get out. Although the weather for Donegal doesnt look great and I may be hungover on sunday morning.
Hope to play everyday next week. Hope to get to the West for the Final and Play Castle dargan one of the Days.
Also hope to get either 1 or 2 of the Matchplay plate semis played next week also. And maybe fit in a lesson because god Knows I need it!

Knightsbrook in Trim has some great deals on for tomorrow on teetimes.

Yeah. There were time in the morning earlier in the week but I didnt book it as I wasnt sure of my schedule. The times that are available are a bit late in the day for me unfortunately. Headfort is available but I'd have preferred to play knightsbrook again for 30 euro.

    Jabber,

Make sure and give him all the usual local knowledge tips like keeping as far left as possible on the 2nd and 4th holes and as far right as possible on the 10th:D. Makes life much easier:p.

If your playing tomorrow, even if your playing off of the greens, play the 6th from the Blue Tee's, even if the drives don't count, its just such a great hole from the Blue's compared to the Greens or Whites.

One little tip is on the 3rd. The green is drivable, there is a hundred yard marker on the top of the hill aim right of that marker, as anything left of that is generally refereed to as "bunker line", as you'll usually end up in a nice big bunker below the green, if you keep right of it, you may make the green or else have a short wedge to the green.

Hope the match goes well for yee.

    Regards
    Ian
(P.s. you'll see why I'm taking the p1ss on the advise for the 2nd, 4th and 10th when you get there. But do try and play the 6th from the Blues)

Going to play Tulfarris tomorrow morning with a view to joining up... Might follow that up with a trip to Moyvalley Sun/Mon.... Happy Days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 281 ✭✭dnjoyce

tulfarris is lovely - if I lived any way close to it I'd happily pay the 1500 they're looking for. Just back from a round at macreddin - a good bit off the beaten track but a really nice course - excellent greens and some really picturesque holes particularly on the back 9. On the downside it is a little short in parts - 6th and 10+11 all less than 300 yrds off white and it had no distance markers on sprinkler heads or stroke saver available and there wasn't a single seat on the course - and when its taking 5 and a half hours to play, a seat once in a while would be nice :-) The time was more due to the huge changes in elevation between greens and tees rather than slow golf. All in all a great course and well worth anything up to 50 quid I'd say.
