I have a sky+ HD box with 2 connections to the TV, scart and HDMI, I use the HDMI as a preference for HD ... but when I ty to use the tele txt through my HDMI connection, I get a message that txt is not available YET if I'm using the scart connection I can get te tele txt without a problem ... Would this be a HDMI issue or an issue with the HDMI output from my sky box?

    Anyone else have this issue?

    thanks

do extra SCART connection for teletext then, on some teles RGB signal through SCART looks much better than downscaled HDMI. Use HDMI only for HD channels :)

As far as I am aware HDMI can't display text. Must be the only thing it cant do:)

Telextext is serial digital data carried on empty analogue TV lines. There is thus nowhere for it to go on digital video signal. The Cable/Satellite/Terrestrial digital carry ordinary teletext thus as a separate stream in the same way that sound, EPG, interactive data are all separate streams from the picture. The idea is that the setbox should do the Teletext decoding. In fact this is what some non-Sky boxes do. Since Sky boxes don't decode teletext, you need the composite or RGB where the Sky box inserts it onto the normal blank lines.
