This is probably a stupid question but can anyone tell me how long a law firm that takes you on for your apprenticeship will expect you to stay with them? Is it generally for x years after you qualify or how does it work?

You are only contracted to the firm for the duration of your training but traditionally alot stayed on after their training contract. That is certainly not the case at the moment with the vast majority losing their jobs on qualification. If you are not yet an apprentice who knows where it will be by the time you qualify, perhaps things will have picked up, perhaps they will not.

I am supposed to be starting as a trainee in 2010 and I am trying not to think about where things will be in 4 years time. I just worry about whether I passed my FE1s and whether my job offer will actually materialise when it is all said and done!!
