I used to listen to the Sky1 Lost podcast, before they turned it into a video show and watered it down.
I presume there's an official podcast out there somewhere, but I haven't looked for it.

Listening to the podcasts is essential, especially if you're gonna be on msg boards after each episode theorising about things. Sometimes they admit to mistakes, like Charlotte's age recently (her being a 5 year old on the island in 1974 when she was born in 1979), and telling fans when they are way off track in the way they may be thinking of something. Also, they hint at what will and won't get answered over time which is good (We'll never get a history on Libby and we'll never find out what the Hurley bird is).
If you don't listen then I reccommend you start - type in Lost Official into I-Tunes search and you'll find it each week.

I'm not down with the Sky1 ones and such, too much cruddy theories thrown in by stupid people like Ian Lee.

Yeah but not so much anymore. They're kinda crap tbh and I would disagree that they are essential. Although they do tend to clarify a few things and shoot down certain theories. But for most part, it's them making jokes and answering stupid fan questions. That annoying Chris guy from ABC seems to pick all the questions and writes down what they should say. I mean come on. Anyone listening to the official podcast is obviously a die-hard fan and would like to hear some important questions asked, instead of crap about the Hurley bird. It's questions like this that led to them doing an episode about Jack getting his tattoos.

Ron Moore's BSG podcasts were so much better. At least you got some serious insight into the production.

The podcasts are harmless fun really and no more. Lost is a mystery show with a hard-core fan-base speculating constantly etc.....You shouldn't be expecting the writers to be giving away anything important.

Couldn't agree with you more purple_hatstand, the podcasts are light hearted and are nearly always good for a chuckle and clarify a few minor things in the show too. In fairness to the writers, they can't and I'm glad they don't answer important questions - that's part of the fun of the show, and in the podcasts the way they pretend that they don't know what's going on when they obviously do is funny.

I like the podcasts. I don't think it they are essential by any means but they are light-hearted and usually give me a laugh.

Well i'm after listening to the last two... there ok. It would be very unlikely for them to just give a major spoiler but they do talk some amount of crap too in all fairness. i'll probably stay tuned to them now

I don't listen to them because, no matter how light-hearted they are, I really don't wanna hear any spoilers.

I actually think it'd be interesting to do a poll on who has never read/listened to any spoilers before (unless by accident) because I think I'd win :D I'm pretty proud of the fact that I never read any spoilers!

I've listened to the official one on and off for about two years and I just started listening to some of the fan made ones recently. I agree they aren't really srs bsns, just lighthearted theorising and banter. I don't think I'd listen otherwise. I'm a little paranoid about bigger spoilers. Little things, like who the next episode is centred on don't really bother me. =]

Personally I look really forward to the official podcast every week, not so much for the great content and answers, mainly for the good giggle I get out of it. Yes it can be fluffy but sometimes you get some nice gems from it. I quite like the little hints they give, not spoilers but just stuff like what questions will be answered by the end of the season, it just makes me think, how on earth are they going to answer that with how things are currently going!

I'd recommend the official one, but its not essential to listen to it to keep up with the show. Haven't tried any fan ones.

most of the time the podcasts are available the day of the episode after it has aired. but not always, and sometimes they don't do any podcasts if they are really busy e.g. when in the middle of writing the season finale.

Fecks sake, i wish they did a podcast last week, i love to get some inside scoop after the episode. I really hope they release something this week to make up for the gap.

Been listening to the podcasts for ages, there's a lot of fun recurring jokes in the official one. The past two seasons of Lost they haven't been as whimsical, but looking at the amount of work they've clearly put into the show since season 3, I think we're all the better for it!
