    Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anybody can help me please. Im a single Mam with a 5 year old boy and a 1 year old girl. Im on my local county council list and I emailed today to find out where I was on the list and they told me I was 62 on the list for 2 bedroom accommodation. I was recently told by someone that the council legally has to put us down as looking for 3 bedroom because they legally can't put a boy and a girl in the same room. Does anyone know what the truth is on this matter?

Sorry if this is not in the right section could it please be moved if it isn't thanks in advance.

May be a bit off topic but couldn't the one year old girl just sleep in your room

I'd imagine that the waiting lists have grown with the recession and ever rising unemployment and council budgets have been slashed so don't know if it's time to rock the boat at the moment...

Best of luck with it either way.

Your right, a boy and a girl can't share the same room. If they were both the same sex they would give you a two bed, but because they are the same sex, you will have to get a three bed house.

The council wouldn't accept having the girl sleeping in your room as an option either, not really appropriate reallly. A parent is entitled to have a life also.

Ring the council, don't tell them your name or social no or anything and ask them to be 100% sure.

Fair enough-would their be any danger of her getting thrown to the back of the three bedroom list as a result of switching?

I don't like your dishonest attitude of not telling any name or number btw, you'd expect a bit of honesty when dealing with others,

Ring your council for the information, you don't need to give your details as it is a general query.

If you find out you've been put on the housing list incorrectly, get in touch with your elected councillor and ask them for help in rectifying the situation

    Hi

Thanks so much for all the replies. I never thought of asking them actually and if they dont know i will ring the council and ask them.

Segaboy - my daughter is in the room with me and at the moment its fairly cramped with the bed and a cot but she will soon need to be in a bed and theres no way another bed will fit in the room.

Thanks so much for all your help
