This one goes out to the lady's (not knackers)

If they would be turned OFF by men in a night club if they sometimes stood up for himself and true the odd punch in defence sometimes

This goes out to the upper class/ women ,
women of a high stature not common women

    What women?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 16,698 Mod ✭✭✭✭Silverfish

I think any lad who throws a punch in a nightclub is a bit of a knacker himself maybe.

    What's the 'odd' punch?

    One is odd

    Two is even

    Three is odd

    Etc.

I'm sorry, is there a question in there somewhere?

I don't believe punches solve anything - is that what you're getting at?

    who did you punch?

Why ladies, and why even bring (knackers) into it?

    Why upper class women?
    and
    women of a high stature.
    OP,why are you asking?

Not even a *knacker* would want someone throwing the odd punch in all fairness

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭consultech

You're not a "knacker" for throwing a punch in a club. You do however probably have anger issues stemming from personal inadequacies that are manifested in this way when u get a few jars into u.

There's not a whole lot that warrants throwin rights n lefts in a nightclub of all places.

ha ha ha ha go on give us your opinion. Ill take the slap for standing up for you.

Op do you mean just give someone a crack in the jaw first or give them a crack back if they slap ya first. I'd have no problem slapping someone back no bother but it doesnt really come up often at all. Just laugh at someone if they try start on ya.

Dont be calling the lovely ladies of boards common. They are all great :)

I hate fights in pubs or clubs. It seems so stupid, and is usually for no good reason. Ok if there was a guy physically attacking me then fair enough, maybe a quick jab from my OH to sort him out. But if someone knocked over my OH's pint and he threw a punch then that is way too much.

Can men not stand up for themselves without resorting to violence?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,919 ✭✭✭✭Gummy Panda

Is this a question on self defense or punching someone for insulting you/your girlfriend?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,960 ✭✭✭allandanyways

Absolute turn off, I don't care for what reason (unless another muppet is beating the sh!te out of you, you should probably fight back a little bit then, but only as self defence :))

OH starts a fight when we're out, even if it's just one dig at a bloke who gets to the bar in front of him, he gets no sex that night. It just pisses me off too much. You get these sympathising looks off other women saying "Don't you just hate when they do that?" "God love you, having to put up with that"

You look like idiots fighting, possibly the most un-sexy thing a man can do IMO.

Women love men who fight, so get yourself out there and start throwing digs, you'll be rolling in it.

No offence to you but its wannabe hard men like your Oh that I love seen them getting battered. If there is a very good reason like someone pushed you and hurt you thats fair enough but just cos someone gets to the bar before him isnt really
a good idea. He will hit the wrong person some night and get bet around the place.

Last time I hit someone in the pub was some chap who was abusing the new barmaid because she caught him smoking twice in the one night and told the owner. I told him to cop on and leave her alone so he started on me. Sent him flying. Felt like rocky after it. Wanted steps to run up and celebrate but there was none around :(. Meself and me man are still mates. He knew he was in the wrong.

While I agree with you regarding the fighting; How new-age of you with the above comment. Sex is supposed to be mutually enjoyable, I'm sorry to hear it's a reward thing for you n ur OH. Witholding Sex is another extremely antiquated mindset that P's me O also. You've come a long way baby :)

I wouldn't get turned off . . . thems doing the fighting get tossed out of the establishment, creating more room at the bar.

For that, kind sirs, I thank you.

I once decked a guy in Coppers. He was in his mid thirties and felt my girlfriends tit as she tried to walk pass, he then wouldnt let her pass and when i gently pushed him out of the way he made a move for me.

I personally dont like fighting, but he deserved it.

Not really looking for a reply but just wanted to get that out there (oh and he got kicked out of the club by the bouncers and i was told to have a good night.)

Maybe the better question is: Would you think less of someone who didn't fight back... someone who just curled into a ball and took the punches.
I refer you to the case of George McFly vs Biff Tannen.

Well I'd prefer if he true a punch rather than false a punch or something. Oh I don't know I'm a bit knackery and classless at times so never mind.

Only punch if you're defending yourself OP. You're biggest question is why do you care what women think of you.

Women would be impressed if you sent your man Jeeves in to sort out the ruffian. It indicates to them that you are a man of wealth and also that you don't have time for such trivial matters.

What I meant actually was that I'm usually too annoyed with him for getting in a fight in the first place to be anywhere near him for the rest of the night, let alone have sex.

My point with that comment was that lads who get into fights think that it's just them who gets hurt if they get a split lip or a dig in the ribs or something, the other people (mainly the gf/female friends) are embarrassed by their behaviour, and usually annoyed with the man in question for the rest of the night. It doesn't look tough, it looks ridiculous and can be quite the night-ruiner.

I'd run a mile tbh. If you are in a nighclub there is probably drink involved so i'd be thinking you couldnt handle your drink our were a rowdy drunk.

    Apparently.

I was a pub one night, someone's Glaswegian gf accused me of stealing her pint just to get her bf to fight with me. Luckily the bouncers intervened before he got hurt

Finally no person would define him/herself as a knacker, no matter what other think, so your OP question is flawed.

    *looks down nose*

One wouldn't frequent an establishment where the patrons might start exchanging blows.

    *adjust pashmina*

    The very idea!

I'm a woman of high stature (5ft 9) ;) and I personally hate violence so yes it would turn me off.

I think what the OP is getting at - although badly put - is that he doesn't want to get the opinions of scumbags girlfriends, who are themselves scumbags and who egg their boyfriends on to fight on a night out (as Confab experienced).

However while most of us women on here do not like violence, I would also like to think that my man could stand up for himself and also that AS A LAST RESORT, if things got messy he could defend himself (or me) physically. But someone throwing their weight around, thinking he's a hard man, punching first and asking questions later - massive turn off!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,064 ✭✭✭smileysurfer

Violence is never the answer!!

But seriously, if the action was justified then I think Id still be a bit turned off! Its just not something I ever find attractive in a man! More annoying than anything else!

Yes, I think you've pretty much excluded yourself from the type that the OP wants to respond.
On the bright side, you & your OH clearly deserve each other.
