Not getting DTT near Three Rock

I'm having difficulty getting any DTT in Rathfarnham, even though I'm very near Three Rock. This is my equipment:

    - A Maxview 18 element aerial from Woodies: link here
    - I placed the aerial on the roof of our kitchen, in direct line of sight to Three Rock but not quite pointing at the top of the hill
    - A HTPC running Windows 7
    - A Pinnacle 7010ix dual DVB-S/DVB-T tuner (both satellite tuners working perfectly)

Neither Media Center nor DVBViewer program will detect any DTT channels.

I'm thinking it's my aerial that's the problem because it's hard to even tune in analogue channels on it (even using a proven Hauppage PVR 500 card that I use for UPC cable tv).

Any other theories? Is that aerial sufficient do you think? Does it need to be on the roof/in attic?

    Thanks for any help,
    Mike

I am receiving DTT on a "rabbits ears" aerial in Rathfarnham. Reception is excellent, the 4 channels are better than is available on UPC/NTL Digital cable -- fair play to RTENL.:)
Your aerial set-up is far more sophisticated than mine so I doubt if direction is the issue. I'm going direct to an MPEG4 TV and a separate set-up going to an MVision combo box. Not using a PC so no help there.

    Thanks for the reply Steve.

It's gotta be connectivity to my aerial then that's at fault, although it all seem to checkout okay with an ohm-meter. I must go searching and see if I have a rabbits ears in the attic, it might be just the ticket! :)

    Cheers,
    Mike

If you are getting analogue, dtt will be no problem.

When you say you are getting nothing, no picture ?

You say its a HTPC. I presume you have coreavc to decode the MPEG4 signals ?

hi STB. When I say nothing, I mean no channels detected.

If I had them detected then the decoding would be the next problem but I'm not expecting problems there since I am already decoding BBC HD from satellite tuners on the same card, and have supposedly all good codecs installed.

The fact that I'm finding it hard to even tune in Analogue probably means there's something wrong with my aerial connection I guess, although the ohm-meter tells me all is connected correctly and there's no shorts. Hmmm

    hi,

i have the same problem. dtt worked fine for me in dun laoghaire until maybe 2 weeks ago. i have all codecs installed. also getting e.g. bbc hd through sat on my system.

so either threerock is dead or... my setup has a fault, but as it worked perfectly for a long time i think there must be sth else wrong.

i just did a scan and there is no signal, no channel found...

    just to confirm

    Interesting.

Do you have an analogue tuner? If you can't get analogue channels tuned in it might be your setup has a fault. Other people seem to be happily tuning in Three Rock ... or maybe they're picking up a different signal?

The codecs only kick in after you are able to tune something in, so shouldn't be a problem, even if they got messed up.

I haven't had time yet to try another aerial, which is the next thing I want to try.

i dont have a tv. just watching it over a pc with dvb-t setup box. it worked fine so far. all codecs up to date. MPEG4 worked and works perfectly. i just cant get any signal from threerock. maybe the signal is weaker as quite small....
