Missed dental appointment

I missed a dental appointmnet today. I was booked in for 1 hour as I needed a lot of crown work done. My appointmnet was for 3pm but due to unforseen circumstanes I phoned the dentist at 3:30 telling them I was unable to attend, and they made me another appointment.

I was wondering what's the general practice here? I feel very bad that the dentist was probably hanging around for one hour doing nothing. I feel like I should pay to cover the cost for this lost hour. I know they won't ask me to pay, but I feel I should. I don't know how much either. What do others think?

I hope this is in the correct forum, it's not really a 'dental issue' but more of a dilemma for me.

I'm sure you've figured out by now that this, in fact, was not the correct forum.


Although I'll give my opinion: they're way overpaid already... so I wouldn't worry about it.
