Right, long story cut short, buying new bike using 'bike to work scheme' mainly to complete the etape 09.

Initially was leaning towards the Carbon sportive from Ribble cycles uk but was put off as I couldn't contact them (they never replied) to clarify guarantee, also very little info/reviews of this bike on the web. £1099 + delivery

Then fell in love with Planet X Carbon SL pro and this ticked all the boxes but by the time the bike is delivered I have shelled out approx €1400. This is about 300 too much

Finally looked at the Boardman Team Carbon from Halfrauds and after looking at the reviews believed this would be the best bet at £899 collection from Belfast (yes I know about the spokes issue), so I rang them and they are now saying they wont have them in stock till the end of may earliest......Damn!

Is there any other good options out there that anybody has experience with, up to €1100 about 8-9kgs and minimum of a 105 groupset.....am I really that difficult to please?????

@tomc- if you are doing the Etape, a formidable challenge, it is probably advisable to get the bike a bit before to get used to it, just to factor that in. The Focus is a good option, I had one myself and it is excellent although I would consider just spending the extra to get the Planet X, it is the new official Boards velo du jour :)

Enjoy Ventoux, I wish I was doing it!

If you are looking for carbon and 105+ your options are limited at that budget.

Evans have some options in limited sizes:

Specialized Tarmac Elite 2008 Road Bike

Pinnacle Aeos Carbon 1.0 2009 Road Bike

Bianchi B4P 1885 TB Hydro Carbon Ultegra 10 speed Double 2008 Road Bike

    Bianchi 1885 Hydro-Carbon Ultegra CD 8 2008 Road Bike

Those Bianchi's aren't full carbon, but are v. pretty.

Worldwide Cycles claim to match UK prices and then 5% extra - they stock the Specialized too.

Cycleways and Wheelworks the same.... The pound RRP is the EURO RRP...... I'd get a spec allez elite. They look like a good bike

+1 on the tarmac for me, looks very nice!

Not only would WWC be offering a very good price, you would be getting a very good service.

Call Worldwide, they are very, very agressive on their pricing right now and doing good deals for a lot of riders I have spoken to.
