Can someone tell me what type of aerial would be best for to receive both DTT and Analogue in Skerries? And if possible, where would be the cheapest place to buy it, either online or bricks and mortar. I've looked around online and there doesn't seem to be much choice available.

    Thanks.

I actually have one of these on my roof at the moment. Are you sure these are good enough? Maybe mine is misalligned or the cable is damaged?

    Thanks for the info.

Has the analogue ever worked off it ?

Is the analogue still working now ? If so the DTT will.

Pointing to three rock right ? Not Wales.....

I get analogue and DTT through my Sony TV, but the reception on analogue has been poor since the beginning and DTT breaks up a lot. I was thinking my current aerial wasn't sufficent to get a really good stable siganl on both Analogue and DTT.

Would it not be facing Clermont Cairn(north of Skerries)? Where's Three Rock? North or South of Skerries? My aerial's facing north, same as ones on my street.

You'll need to amplify/stabilise the signal.

Get one of the these. Aerial goes in one side. Then theres an output to your TV /STB.

Hello, I need an aerial system for my new home i plan on doing the work myself but i dont know where is the best place to buy the bits and peices i need. I live between newry and dundalk and as far as i know im recieving my BBC channels from Belfast and my RTE channels from Carlingford. What is the best equipment to buy or where will i get it? Not so sure about buying online i would rather go to a bricks an mortar establishment.

Would this aerial from Argos work for where I live in Skerries. €33 incl 10m coax cable?

Can I just say I placed an order recently from these guys and found them to be excellent. Great prices and fast delivery.

Why do these 'X' http://www.antiference.tv/extra-gain-xg-0 give way better reception than their http://www.antiference.tv/yagi-rx-0 counterparts?

Is it simply due to extra elements? The 'X' aerials seem always have the 'extra gain' added to the name. Never really understood how these aerials work.

    Heres the manufacturer's description.

It's wideband so it should be ok.

This seems to be a popular topic at the moment.

ATV Aerials have a very informative site.
(It's mentioned in the stickies but easily overlooked)
They don't sell to ROI though.

I had something indistinguishable from one of these, and out in the sticks where I live, the only thing it was any use for was as a perch for birds. A piece of wire shoved in the back of the tv and clipped to a curtain gave better reception.

    I very recently got this:

    Omega8.jpg

A Fracarro Omega 5 - 16db of gain and not too high a wind loading. I now have great reception.

Did you try connecting a little booster/amp to it ???

The birds wont get fried either.

No, I couldn't see that there was anything worth boosting, to be honest. I thought it more prudent just to get a decent antennae.

Thanks for the tip on the Panny re-scan, by the way. Got the TV channels now on DVB but I'm puzzled that they don't look to be of any higher quality than the existing analog channels.
