Thanks for your help. I got up early today to go in and ask but my alarm screwed up and I only got up now, but went downstairs and the new slips had come in the post. The old ones I had were smaller and white, these new ones are yellow and start from next week. Does this mean I am closer to receiving the allowance? They are yellow slips that have to be filled in by my employer and stamped the days I've worked (1).
Any help on this would be great, thank you.

Its my first time I've been waiting over 4 weeks, now nearly 5.

EDIT: Say I have been putting the slips in each week, but missed a week, will I lose all my back pay for the three weeks I had put the slips in for and putting more in this week...?

It'll be five weeks tomorrow from when I put in the claim. So what am I looking at another week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,984 ✭✭✭Degag

I think payment is usually made on a Friday as your Yellow slips must be in by midday on thursday. I always get paid on a tuesday so yes, you are looking at another week. Did you get a letter yet saying whether you were approved?

I didn't get a letter but they did send me out new slips after I had put in the 5 I had previously.

I think they'll send out those anyway but you'll get a letter saying whether you've been approved or not and how much you're entitled to. Don't worry i was waiting 8 weeks to get my back pay.:)

Waiting just for your backpay or your initial claim. They said I'd get 132 in the office. Just can't wait to get something, my bank balance is suffering these days.

Both. I was in a similar position as you regarding bank balance but then i got over a thousand all at once so it was nice.

God I hope I get it next week, I don't know how much I'll be getting backpay, its all a bonus, all I want is my weekly allowance so I can start saving again.
What happens, do I get the approved letter and it says I can start claiming and a cheque for backpay? Or do I get the Social Services card, I'm sure I had one around the house but don't know where it is.

No, you are set a date of when payment will start. You will get your first cheque the following week. That's my experience at least.

Its now hit 6 weeks. I need to drop a slip in the hatch tomorrow, may go to the reception, can they tell you when to expect the claim to go through? Desperate enough now.

Over 10 for me, waiting on SW heard of more, if you're stuck then perhaps you can go to the local welfare officer??

I made my claim in early Feb and it still hasn't come through - I asked in my local office how much longer it was likely to take and I was told that they were now processing claims that had come through at the end of 2008

I went to the community welfare officer and got some forms to fill out. She said that I would need to show these to my parents about there payslips or something. I didn't go back because it seemed a lot of bother plus I thought I'd have my claim within a month, its 6 weeks on and nothing.
I have three forms to fill in for the CW officer. What happens if I just fill those in, does she need actual copies of my parents pay slips etc. How long does this process take?

Thats why I didnt bother with the CWO, the forms the hassle, but if you're at home Im not certain how that would work?
