    They're a Hyundai dealer....

What would they know about cars? Or quality interiors? Or 4x4's?

    Aren't all X types AWD?

Half? It's a 7 year old 2.5l petrol engined variant of an unloved model from a niche manufacturer in a collapsed market. It's the automotive equivalent of the plague (I was going to suggest syphilis but there may have been some fun in the contraction of syphilis). You'd struggle to move it for €4k.

No, 2.5 and 3.0 are AWD.

2.0 Diesel and 2.1 petrol are FWD only

No, the 2.0 Petrol isn't. Plastic Wheel trims, manual box, 4cyl engine, cloth seats, 2wd. Might as well be a Mondeo.

the 2.1 is a V6, not 4 cyl. And depending on spec they were horribly basic but weren't bad with a bit of spec. 155bhp meant they weren't that slow either.

It is still all Ford underpinnings in the 4WD too though isn't it?

I was in getting tyres two weeks ago & an X Type (UK reg)owner arrives in to get a puncture repaired. He actually told the tyre guy that it was "a real Jag, not a Ford" too! The tyre guy didn't even give him cause to say it!!

Tyre guy was laughing away to himself when yer man pulled out, he came over to us & said, "it's not a Ford you know, but the fnckin' key is a Ford key!!"

Not saying that Ford or Jaguar were a bad car or anything but why the need to make this statement. Weird that I have heard this twice now in two weeks.

I'd say if you own an x-type, you'd be forever explaining away its Ford origins.

I'm reading this and shifting uncomfortably. I love Jaguars and I think the x type and the s type( to some extent) infected the breed. Both cars suffer horribly with reliability issues so they are definitly jaguars. But at the same time ford rescued Jaguar and models such as the newer xj6 and xk8 and xf would not be with us only for them. I wish tata luck and I hope the breed survives. I think nothing looks like a Jaguar in full flight. The real ones of course:).

Or you could just accept that it shares lots of parts with the mondeo - who cares?

Why does the x type get such a hard time when an A4 is essentially the same as an Octavia?

I dunno why it gets such a hard time to be honest - wouldn't bother me in the slightest, but an A4 isn't built on the same platform in the way the x-type and Mondeo are

I almost didn't notice that MONSTER spoiler, if the hood and the roppey graphics didn't put me off enough, that definitely did.

Said music, better live up to expectations.:pac:
