Anyone have any ideas on a good location in the midlands for a wedding? Not lavish but nice.

Bloomfield House Hotel in Mullingar are doing great deals on weddings in 09 and 2010. €30 a head midweek in 2009, €35 next year. 5 course meal and two glasses of wine included. (Not advertising, was seriously considering having mine there too!)

shamrock lodge or hudson bay hotel are lovely venues for weddings. athlone springs is also a lovely spot, was never at a wedding there though.

Seriously you have to check out Glasson Golf & Country Club - these guy's did a great job on our Wedding. It's a fantastic scenic venue, family business with great Wedding co-ordinator. Affordable too.

I have no business interest whatsoever in Glasson golf club.

I'm getting married in the Annebrook Hotel in Mullingar later this year.
Beautiful venue and Jodie, their wedding coordinator cant seem to do enough for us. Felt like they were interested in what we wanted rather than trying to make money out of us, given that we are on a limited budget.
Website doesnt do the hotel justice at all though IMO.

    Best of luck x

Glasson is nice but be aware that they are looking to start doing major renovations at the place. Only know this as my May bride has pulled out of the place due to some issues.

Another place I shoot often at is the Wineport Lodge which is really nice. A bit small so if you have hundreds then it isn't any good for you.

My sister used glasson golf course and i loved it personally

The shamrock lodge, meah, i grew up beside it so its a little too familiar, although - paddy Mccall is dead sound to deal with so a good deal is possible.

    Springs - we dont like..

Hodson bay hotel.. location is nice, but thats where the positives end

Bloomfield house hotel i will look into

Hudson Bay in Athlone have a menu to die for, beautiful setting and are very reasonable price-wise (won't charge for meals not served, and have great deals if going off-peak).

The one bad point would be that the bridal suite isn't great but you can ask for a suite in the new part instead of the bridal suite.

Depends where you are in the midlands!

I'm from Ah-lone originally but marrying a girl from outside Navan. We've booked the Station House Hotel in Kilmessan.

Glassan would be a good choice though! Much nicer than the "The Bay".

I think you can hire Portlick Castle in Glasson as well - might be worth checking out.
