XP reinstall + iastor.sys

    Trying to re-install windows xp, it gets to setup and then says "iastor.sys cannot be found". Anyone have any ideas?

    iastor.sys is part of the Intel disk driver. Try installing the Intel drivers from floppy when the F6 prompt appears at the beginning of the setup.

    Would the iastor.sys file be on the driver disc that came with laptop?

    Hard to tell, probably, but it depends on the supplier. You can always get them from intel.com.

    Just tried the F6 prompt there but says it cannot find floppy(theres no floppy drive on my laptop)and theres no option to install from anywhere else e.g USB...

    Without the floppy, there are other options such as slipstreaming the drivers into a usermade XP disc, but these aren't exactly simple solutions.
