pc world password?????????????

    hi i wonder can anybody help me.
    my father bought an acer desktop two years ago from pc world and only set it up today.we turned it on and tried putting on o2 internet...and the computer said we need a pc world password.....same happens when we try loading on any cd dvds anything it says we need the administrator password which is a pc world one..we rang them and they say we have to bring it back and they will crack the password as they dont know what it is..does this happen often?why do they have a password on a a desktop they sell. when we bought it it wasnt a display pc..

    start the pc in safe mode (f8 on xp) log on as administrator go to control pannel, user accounts and change passwords

    yeah we tried password pcworld 0000 ..sure we could spend hours at it. is there any good hackers out there lol...

    LOL He doesn't have the administrator password! and to get the 'other' logon screen all he needs to do is hit ctrl + alt + del twice at the Welcome screen

    Did you try hit enter with nothing in the password field. You'd be suprised how many times I've come accross blank admin passwords

    That is the password put on a demo model. Used to be common practise in many of the DSG stores a few years back to password demo models to stop messers putting up screensavers. It could be an ex display model from that store, or an ex display model from another store that was boxed up and sent there. The Limerick store for example used to get a lot of the Acer models sent to it from other stores that were reboxed demos .The passwords are not always the same in each store though.




    Strange that the store did not remaster it before selling it though.


    If the pc has not been used yet, why not simply do a remaster on it and you would be ready to go.

    More often than not I found its users entering something random during the sysprep and forgetting it. Its easy to reset it anyway.
