Yeah, i've given it a few listens now and it's getting better with each spin. More of the typical DOOM style lyrically and there are some gems productionwise. He also plays alot of tributes to J-Dilla by using a few of his beats from Donuts. And then there are some of the off kilter beats which DOOM tends to throw on every release.

But, my one problem so far is that all the featured artists on the album outshine him, Ghosty, Rae and Slug throw in some fantastic verses. Ghostface's is a particular standount. There is also a female MC (could probably google her but meh :D) that is great, she was on the Vaudeville Villain as well and throws in an exceptional verse.

Its pretty mediocre. I have never been a Doom fan though.

I listened to it again on the drive to work this morning and it is getting better with each listen.

But if i compare it to his other albums I dont think it is as good. But compared to some of the new albums i've heard this year, it's one of the better ones so far....but i doubt it will make any top 10 lists.

Cunninlynguists, Reks, Mojoe, K'naan, K-os and Saigon have all released better album this year imo.

I don't really like it that much. Too many producers. His delivery is all over the place. It just sounds messy. It's getting better with repeated listens but I'd be very much surprised if his next couple of releases (which seem to be not that far off completion) were'nt alot stronger.

The joy of Vaudeville Villain, Madvilliany and MM.. Food is how well they hold together as albums. I've been listening to those for years and I still keep picking up new references.

Good interview with the man here himself in pdf.
