Dropped and damaged PC

A colleague dropped a PC and it seems to have damaged it. No signal is going to monitor now even though power is on. I can't see anything, so impossible to test anything, monitor goes straight into standby. I'm thinking it could be graphics card, but could be something a lot worse, i was going to buy a new graphics card to test it out, but that could be just a waste of money.

    Anybody any thoughts on this?

open pc case, gently press down graphics card, firmly into graphics card slot,if its pci-e card make sure the extra power cable from the psu is still plugged in to the end of grahics card power slot,,3pin power from psu,
google installing pci-e graphics card .new pci slot card in peats is 30euro,and you get a tax allowance 4 it,pc parts repair, office equipment.
    google pci-e power cable molex.
pci slot is white strip about 6inchs,most pcs have at least 1 pci slot,
pci-e cards are like superfast 3d cards ,alsoake sure the grahics card fan is plugged in to either the card,or some fans have 2pin white ,power cable to mobo, fan power slot,on pc mainboard,pc fan slot 2pins on mobo, marked, fan,is fan for main pc cpu processor ,plugged in to fan slot on mobo, white 2mm wide, marked cpu, identical to grahics fan slot,
be4 you do anything switch off pc,take pc plug out of the esb wall socket.
TRY NOT to touch any part pcb, motherboard, chips,or grahics card pcb,
otherwise you risk STATIC energy discharge from your body to the pc board.

    some tests without monitor
are there little diagnostics lights on the back of the PC ?
do the num lock / caps lock / scroll lock work
if you put in a bootable CD goes the machine accesses the CD , better still if you use one like Knoppix that speaks to you if it boots
does ctrl alt del restart the pc ? ( listen to the noises )
take out the memory , does the mother board issue a BEEP code ?

ah yes the beps, so the deal is, i don't see any diagnostic lights anywhere, don't hear any beeps atall on startup, all that happens in the fans, hard drive and cd drive turn on, no life on keyboard, no num lock, no caps lock, ctrl-alt-del not working and when i take out the RAM i don't hear the beeps that it doesn't recognise it missing. This would of course indicate that it's not a graphics card issue, presumably then the mobo is gone, correct?

Funnily enough, a lot of the interior of a computer is pretty hardy x.gif

Drop damage would most likely just jostle things out of sockets and possibly danage the harddrive. As already mentioned, check it is all seated properly, and check for damage on the sockets and motherboard. It should be kind of obvious (a crack near the PCI-E slot or something).

Sounds like either no power to the Mobo or the mobo is damaged.
I'm a computer technician in Wexord if you live in Wexord I could take a look at it or you.
