Hey people I don't venture into this forum that often but i've a quick question.
A close family member recently had an operation on a slipped disc in his back. He's in a lot of pain since the operation, (it's only been a couple of days). I'm not looking for medical advice or anything; just, a lot of people have said that they've had friends/family who have had the same operation and are great now...but have said nothing about how it was just after the op. Should he be in this much pain now? I'm just wonderng is there anyone else out there who's had the op and how bad you found the first week or so after it? I don't really know anyone who has had a surgical procedure (I'm lucky!) of any sort so I'd appreciate any experience.
He has been prescribed some serious painkillers so I'm guessing that they expected him to be in a lot of pain, and he knows to ring his consultant if he's really worried about it, but I'd appreciate any other experience, just for my own bit of peace of mind!

He needs to talk to his consultant. The best advice comes from the people who treated him.
