Bootpicker Troubleshooting

Ok to start, i'm running OSX leopard on my 2.2GHz intel based MacBook. I also have windows XP installed in a separate partition using boot camp. Unfortunately i am unable to boot in windows without first booting OSX then restarting in windows (which is frustrating and time consuming) so i thought i had found a fix in Bootpicker... but it wont load for me :(

Is anyone else having this issue, or can anybody offer a solution? What basically happens is the OS selection screen flashes up before the desktop loads, but before i can select either operating system it disappears and leopard completes startup.

Also, before someone suggests it - for some reason the standard 'holding the option key after powering up' doesn't work for my laptop as i am only given the option to boot off the Mac partition.

    Any tips much appreciated :D

My only advice is to do a total reinstall of windows and a re-partition of the drive with bootcamp assistant.

Already tried that thanks! Just hoping someone had encountered the same problem and could offer a quick fix...

Did you try this before you installed Bootpicker? Maybe it interferes with it.

Ye the reason i resorted to Bootpicker was because this didn't work with either version of windows i installed. It appears to be unsolvable though :( Could the fact that i formatted the windows partition as FAT32 over NTFS affect the boot options????

No, FAT32 is preferable as you can read/write from OSX.

It's weird that it's not being recognised at startup but is later. Maybe try zapping the PRAM.

Yup that's why i chose that format :) Unfortunately that's yet another suggestion i already tried though (but for an entirely separate issue..)

Thanks for all the responses so far everyone!

When you reinstalled Windows, did you remove the whole partition using Bootcamp first?

Ye it repartitioned the whole drive back to one. The Windows icon always takes a few seconds to load on the desktop after everything else. Dunno if that's significant, but i thought it's worth mentioning

Does everything check out okay in Disk Utility?

Have you installed anything else related to Bootcamp?

There might be a problem on the Windows side. Maybe try repairing it using the Windows install disk or from within Windows.
