I'd advise that you do such a thing in the college if you are trying to get peoples opinions on the various balls that took place. Using this forum would only give you a very narrow view of people's opinions and as this forum isn't one of the more active you'd be better to get out among the students in person.

Thats true, but any feedback is always useful. With there only being one week of classes left in the semester it doesent give much time to gather infomation, espically from all the different students for each
    ball.
Sometimes it can be difficult to get student to fill out survays etc in regards to each ball, or even getting some decent feedback speaking to them can take time, It seams a much easier route to tell people that their is a discussion on Boards.ie about the balls, if they would like to leave some feedback, that way people can say what they really felt anonymously, (for example i know some students felt that the ticket prices were too high this year and could not afford to go and were slightly embarrest about making a complaint about it)

It also makes the info open to all the organisers of each Ball.

    Biz Ball

Food: a lot better than expected... was there a few years back for debs - **** think it was 5 years at this stage  an food was horrible... At Biz Ball, soup was veg, wasn't the best been honest. Main was turkey and ham - excellent and Dessert was Profittiile rolls (Choc Balls:p) and cheesecake on one plate - pretty nice.

Band - Blue Moose - as expected, Excellent - they got the crowd going straight away. played some pretty good songs too i think

Atmosphere - Excellent. Big enough crowd there. got pretty messy though near end, should i say i got pretty messy towards end:D

Ticket e52 - RIPOFF!!! especially when afters tickets were e22. No way dinner was worth 30 euro

Overall. It was my 1st Biz Ball, It was a really really good night. It was like a class party that everyone turned up to for us :D

The lecturers there were good craic. talked as much ****e as us lol... The also gave out lots of pretty expensive on the spot prizes

P.S. They closed the bar through the meal and also were charging an extra €1 at least for pints in the function room compared to the outside bar

Sorry, can't be of any help with other balls

    Looder

An IT ball is something I tried to organise but I found it difficult enough getting assistance from the college and the SU at the time. There was a few of us in it but it was becoming so difficult we gave up. There was a great interest in it and I was asked last year to try again but a lot less time to focus on it.

Shame though, would have been class.

I've taken over the Computer society since the current members are finishing up this year. I think its appalling that there is no computer related ball, or a science/computing ball for that matter. With an increasing number of students coming into IT i intend to make sure that there is such a ball next year.

Whilst in CIT we had a "pick and mix" ball, which had the science courses + computing courses with one or two other smaller courses. It was nice and we had a great time, I don't think it will be that difficult to organise one next year if plans are made early, and i'm sure the numbers will be there, between Computer forensics, applied, physics and entertainment systems this year + whatever we have next year in those courses i believe that should suffice.
