Is the Peugeot 307 any good, petrol and diesel versions? Pre 2005 models are the ones I am interested in. Not sporty ones just the regular versions.

I used to work for Peugeot in the North so ive a good idea. They arent bad there were some recalls done in the 307 but not many. The usuall problems like balljoints ecu's go but they arent bad. My advice is to go for Honda or Volkswagon or even a newish Vauxhall astra! Hope this helps!:)

Dont get me wrong the HDI is a great engine but I drove them and I seen the problems they were getting. But all in all they arent bad but id still have a honda or vw. Or any japanese car have you seen the new Kia with the 7 year warranty now thats a bloody good car.

i had VW 130PD Diesel, and it was the most troublesome car i ever owned, im happy i don't have it now, id say honda will be good car but new toyotas are build in turkey not using jap parts anymore so i wouldn't even go near them(2007 and 2008 d4d avensis burning oil like mad), i would personaly choose new mazda 6 with all new 2.2 TDI 180brake unit, very nice looking car and well price(built in japan) !!!

I had a 307 1.4 diesel and it was under powered...other than that
i replaced front drop links and a balljoint...the 407 which i have now is
is a different car totally (for the better)

Just alot of electrical problems and balljoints going. If you can try to get the history of the car checked by the peugeot dealer. They should have a history of the work thats been done. But to honest Peugeot wouldnt be my first choice.

Take his advice, a buddy has a 307 2.0 HDi and while the engine is good, he can't keep suspension parts for it. Mostly the front. He has a few electrical problems but nothing serious.

Mrs. Milltown had an '02 1.4 for three years and couldn't fault it. Incredibly well specced as standard and apart from a few bulbs it never needed anything, and she was doing about 20k miles a year at the time. I didn't think it was a great drive but other than that the only fault I could find with it was the plastic front wings. In hot weather they would expand slightly meaning when you opened the front doors, the leading edge of the door would clip the trailing edge of the wing. They were flexible enough that they never traded paint but it would have bugged me if it was my daily driver.

Bear in mind that Mr.Tombstone, working for Peugeot, would have seen many more dodgy cars more often. Good ones would only be in for routine maintenance, if the owner decided on dealer servicing.

Thats a very good point I did only see the bad ones but I did have one as a company car which I thought was ok. Like any new car your always going to get teething problems but if I had a choice id put the honda, ford, vauxhall, all in front of peugeot. I also worked briefly for Vauxhall and I cannot recommend the new Vauxhall Astra enough what a great car!!!!!
