I need two extra LNB feeds to my sitting room and I really dont want to have to come in through the wall. I have a couple of questions if somebody could answer Id be grateful

    1) Is the scenario in the pic below possible by using stackers/destackers?
    2) Would there be any side-effects of using such devices, quality degradation etc
    3) In your experience which model of stacker/destacker work the best.

    Many thanks,

I have used two version of the stacker/destacker and and would have no problem in recommending them. However they are fairly expensive. I have used them without problem for Sky + & Sky+HD without problem

The two I have used are the

    1. Johannessan Stacker/Destacker

    Or my preferred

    Global Stacker/Destacker

Available in 2o metre and 30 metre models.

However you will require a decent graded cable such as CT100 but I have used it with RG6 no problem. I presonally wouldnt even try it on anything less than that grade.

Thanks steve, I should have checked the cable first. Hopefully its decent enough.

What does the 20m/30m signify? The actual distance between the stacker and destacker?

Should only be conisdered as a last resort, IMO. Though they do work, with proper grade cable.

Ive just checked the cable. It doesnt have any writing/marking on it.

How can I tell what grade it is?
Could you distinguish it if I took a pic of it?

    Yeah, pretty much.

If it has copper braid and copper tape/foil, then it's more than likely good grade CT100-type.

If it has a silvery tape, sometimes with tinnish braid, it's RG6.

If there is no foil/tape, then it's pretty much useless.

The distance is measured as being the lenght of cable used from the dish to the actual box, unless you live in a mansion 20metre would probably be effiecient.

What colour is the cable used in your house, very often if its a black cable then it may be but not always RG6..or better...

It its brown then its probably useless...its hard to tell unless you cut into the cable to see as Byte has so rightly suggested.

The distance quoted is the actual length of cable.
The cable should have no joints or wall plates.
Open the end of the cable and compare it with this:
