i've done some research and reckon i'll splash out on these - does anyone have a set already?
called in to mcquirks over the weekend and the golf club expert reckons they would suit my swing. have to say i liked the feel and look of them.
i think i'll use one, maybe a 7 iron or so, in an upcoming round before splashing out
real smooth to hold and swing through the air

    no one familiar with these?
to be honest i would never have gone for nike but just couldn't put the club down when I got a few swings of it - seems to be very forgiving

Hmm, you play off 26, despite what the "friendly sales guy" tells you the full cavities would probably be far more fitting.

Although McGuirks have some really good savvy staff, most of them have little or no clue whether anything would suit you or not.

You're a high handicapper so use the technology that has been developed to help you. You've at least copped that blades are a bad idea so jspend your money wisely.

Given what you've said about your golf game, these aren't very suitable for you IMO. You were saying about not being able to hit a wood... or a long iron... so hitting a 7 iron off the tee sometimes. There are many great sets made for people just like you (and me), that make the game easier. These Nike irons are for accomplished players, like Paul Casey, and can be very difficult to use for mere mortals.

Take a look at Ping G10, TaylorMade Burner Plus or Mizuno MX-200 (or MX-250). They'd all be far more suitable.

Also, given your problem with long irons, which many people have, look at only purchasing maybe 4-PW or even 5-PW for your iron set and getting a Hybrid club in place of 3 and/or 4 iron. Ping G10 is a popular Hybrid, Adams also do a decent one and there's many others.

The shop assistant should be taken out and shot for that advice IMO.

Don't touch these, much too hard to hit.

Go for a nice set of full cavity backs, maybe even something with a few hybrids for 3-5 iron.

I think you should go for it Conno. Who cares if you can hit them, the important thing is that you'll look the mutt's nuts with them.

I'd compare hitting a set of cavity backs would be a bit like hitting a hybrid off the tee. You'd be an absolute laughing stock with the CBs. Get the blades. Try get a deal so that you get a 1 iron in there too. Imagine the admiring glances.

If you've any pennies left, ask if they have any of those big golf bags that they use for displays lying around spare. Get one of them... and carry it.

    thanks for the advice lads
i'm from the school of thought though that i want to enhance my game by improving from a technical perspective as opposed to piggybacking on some easy to use equipment

sure i could prob by a bunch of hybrids and never hit an iron again
for me thats not golf in the classical sense as far as i'm concerned, and its a golf game i'm not interested in developing

i do take the point on board tho that these clubs might be a year or two too soon for me though

    thanks lads, good advice

Why do you bother to ask a question when you won't listen to the advise people are giving you.

To put things in context, I play off the low side of single figures, took the game up quite late, yet still started with a 12 handicap. I know others probably started higher and earlier and worked their way down but my point is, 26 as a handicap shows your weaknesses, and probably as a betting man I would put my house on the fact that you won't any time soon, if ever get to the level that these clubs are aimed at.

My guess, like Graeme's is that you are a showboater with a pros bag and at best an 18 handicappers game.

Take the advise you've been given because by your previous history people here are getting very tired of the same bullsh1t over and over again!

i'm not gonna get the clubs as highlighted in my last post, therefore i am taking the advice
and my bay hill clubs smell of a "showboater" as well

gonna take a look at ping or mizuno maybe instead
relax guys, only looking for some advice from blokes that have been in the game for a few years
i'm not looking for any quick fixes as i've signed up to the dave peltz school for a range of lessons
