Higher Education Grant

Have read everything on on my local county council's website but the whole higher education grant scheme still seems very confusing to me.

I graduated last summer with a degree and after a year out I want to go back to pursue a masters. I am currently on a Job Seekers allowance of €110 (means tested because I still live at home). I was wondering if anyone could tell me the likelihood of receiving some sort of grant towards a postgrad course? I didn't apply for any grant during my degree course as my parents funded me for those four years but understandably they won't be contributing towards any further education.

Also, does anyone know about closing dates for applying for these grants? The website says November 2008 but I assume that's not for people starting college in September 2009?

Finally, is it possible to apply for these grants during the application procedure for the college course? Or do you need a letter of acceptance before you even begin?

Know that's a lot of questions!Any help would be great, thanks.
