    ...having the following renovations done? I know I might not be very specific here but I was just looking for an approximate figure. We're having a family member do the renovations (he's a builder) and he'll probably do a good deal for us but we don't want to leave him high and dry either:

    -new ground floor kids bedroom
    -knocking down part of the wall between the two ground floor reception rooms and sliding doors being added in
    -kitchen extension
    -added electrical sockets
    -external walls and attic insulation
    -5 new windows
    -1 window being replaced with a patio door and a small patio area being added

    Get a price off him, as he'll factor in the price of stuff. If you give him a price, he may go for the cheap stuff, to ensure it's within the amount you'll give him.

    It is impossible to say. You could easily spend €10,000 on the windows alone if you wanted to.
