Shes chineese, married an irish guy but they split up some months ago i.e she cant apply for citizenship/passport etc...only married 2 1/2 years

anyone know what happens when her visa expires in july?she has a pps number. I dont think HR will check.

Will the immigration bureau contact her when her visa expires, will her pps number expire?

have told her to call immigration bureau but shes anxious about this.

Not sure if you understand it right but she definitely has to. In short, work visas were issues for certain categories only (IT, medical, etc.) but they are discontinued now. They can, however, be renewed quite easily. Provided the visa holder is still employed in the designated area. Renewal is free for the company and all it takes is just a work reference from HR. The residence permit fee and normal visa fees apply, of course. So if she is indeed employed, she gets a free form reference and goes to Burgh quay in the morning. In an hour or so she gets her residence permit renewed and then may get a re-entry visa in the same office. Residence permit is EUR 150, re-entry visa is EUR 100 multi and EUR 60 single. Yes, her marriage isn't relevant if she's employed.

    thanks for the replies

when she got married she got her pps no. & a card from national immigration bureau, allowing her work & stay in the country,i guess this is a different from a visa. My question really should have been what happens when her immigration card expires? even though shes in FT employment. Does the employer get notified that her immigration card expires?

i will get her to call them

Your friend is on a Stamp 4.

I don't think she is entitled to remain in Ireland if she and her husband have broken up. If she has lived here legally for 5 years she can apply to have her Stamp 4 renewed, but from your post it doesn't sound like she has been here that long.

She really should inquire at the immigration bureau, however.

    think you are right xiney

    STAMP NUMBER 4
This person is permitted to remain in Ireland until a specified date.

    from website which has everything

    http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Stamps

she might be able to get an extension considering shes in FT employment

    Thanks

I think you have to differentiate how she got her stamp 4. Originally, you said she's on work visa which means she's entitled to this stamp on a sole condition of appropriate employment. It's nothing to do with marriage. If, however, she got her stamp 4 as a spouse of an Irish/EU person, then she may have problems upon renewal if she got divorced in the meantime. But I don't really know this "marriage" way well so I can't comment on what's mandatory and what's optional. For the original work visa way she doesn't need any marriage confirmation for sure.
