    Hi,

My girlfriend is looking at a study at home course using the website elearnuk.co.uk. My question is are these guys any good? Maybe nobody here has heard of this gang in particular so here are the details about the qualification:

On completion of your course, you will receive two qualifications:
    Qualification 1: Retail Management Diploma
Retail Management Diploma issued by Stonebridge Associated Colleges, entitling you to use the letters SAC Dip after your name.

Qualification 2: Level 4 Retail Management Award
This Course leads to an NCFE Level 4 Award Certificate for successful learners. That means that it is independantly accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (in which case GCSE's are at levels 1 and 2 and A Levels are at level 3). In accrediting the programme at level 4, NCFE attests that its learning outcomes are at an equivalent level to a level 4 national qualification.
This award has been designed by Stonebridge Associated Colleges to meet specific learners' or employers' requirements. Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. It means that this learning programme has been scrutinised and approved by an independent panel of experienced educational professionals and is quality audited biannually by NCFE.

Does this sound any good? I don't think it's a huge deal as the course is quite inexpensive (< 300 euros) and her real objective is to get used to doing college work in preparation for her hopefully attending DIT in September doing a part time national certificate course.

If somebody could give me some advice or thoughts in this that would be great.

    Cheers

I believe that is equivalent to level 6 in ireland on our system which is a higher certificate over here. The next level up here is an ordinary degree at level 7.

Sounds to me like the qualification she will get with Stonebridge will be higher than the course she will do here in September.

I wouldn't judge it on price. Distance learning should be cheaper due to less overheads. I would judge it maybe on the number of hours study you are expected to do. If its lower than a level 6 course here (which is 2 academic years i believe) then potential employers will question its validity, but then again if its accreditated by a reputable body then you can't really argue with that. I say go for it.
