With all this excitement about Fagan, it's easy to forget that other fast lad we have in our squad. Cragg ran the Carlsbad 5k yesterday:

13:36 is a pretty decent time for 5k I think - not great for Cragg, but still better than Fagan's pb for example. I'd love to see Cragg get a bit of success.

Really gunning for Fagan yesterday - a pity he didn't pull it off - he looked in trouble for me when he wasn't to the front for the last 5k. I expected him to push the pace and try to burn lads off but the portugese lad did it to him. I wonder if the flying messed with his sleep patterns? I was impressed with Mulvey's run in the bupa yesterday - only 35 secs or so behind the leaders is great going when you consider that he's a part-timer.

Great to see. Hopefully he continues his recovery as he is just pure class. Some of his 3k's prior to Beijing were brilliant last year and its a shame it went pear shaped (of sorts) in Beijing. He still made the final!!

If he is healthy it could be a great day in Dublin next December for Euro Cross as a team of Cragg, Fagan, Kelly, Kenneally, Mulvey, Ledwith et al would challenge for team medals and an Irishman could be on the top of the podium too.

Yep Mulvey has been in very good form this year a good 10 miles a few weeks ago too. I wonder how he will go over the Marathon distance?

The only negative to be taken from Fagans recent form is that, with a view towards Euro X in Dublin, the training he is doing will effect his ability to compete over distance 10k and under.

He is now very much a long distance road runner and as such, may not be able to perform to his potential optimum in a race like the Euro X.

Still though, the team listed above looks damn fine on paper!! I believe that Keith Kellys fitness could be a deciding factor in our medal ambitions.

I agree Mulvey should get more of a mention. Cullen and Fagan ran very well yesterday but Mulvey as a part timer is amazing at the moment.

Is Vinny Mulvey running a marathon this spring? and if so, would he have a realistic shot at a world championship qualifying time? It'd be great to see him make it.

I think he's training for an Autumn marathon. He has withdrawn from Hamburg which is on the same day as London.
