POWER FM DUBLIN Commences FM Broadcasts On 99.5FM On Good Friday 10th
    April 2009.
    - Dublin's Own Boat That Rocked Brings New Music And Sunshine With A
Series Of Weekend Broadcasts Through To 14th June 2009.
    - New Website Now Live at www.Powerfm.org.

One of Dublin's most important outlets for new and specialist music
over the past fifteen years, POWER FM, will kick off a series of three
day weekend broadcasts from this Good Friday 10th April 2009.

Power FM will broadcast on 99.5FM* to Dublin & Greater Dublin under a
temporary licence for TEN consecutive Friday, Saturday and Sundays
through to Midnight on Sunday 14th June 2009.
The station officially goes live at midnight this Holy Thursday 9th April.

The station currently broadcasts live shows digitally - online at
www.powerfm.org and on mobile - seven days a week from its Dublin
    studios in Glasnevin.
Power FM currently has a roster of 40 DJs who are all voluntary.

In addition, Power FM regularly hosts live broadcasts from venues,
clubs and cultural institutions around Dublin city. The station also
currently broadcasts live radio shows by Irish artists who have moved
to cities such as London and Barcelona, but who are still very much
involved in music production and releasing their own music.

Musically, Power FM has always played new as well as sometimes
overlooked music - no matter what the decade - handpicked by DJs whose
commercial concerns were more aligned to having enough money for the
bus fare home after their show.

It's always been about a passion for discovering music, be it soul,
jazz, funk or vocal house music from the heart of New York's latin
neighbourhoods to new electronic and improvised music produced in a
basement under the Liffey – all joined by the hearts and minds of
their counterparts around the world - from Rio to Detroit, Cork to
    Tokyo.
“The station has always been about keeping an eye on the future with
lots of respectful nods to the past. Just good music,” says Brian
Chamberlain, original founder of the station.

    SCHEDULE
The station’s first full day of broadcasting on Good Friday will
include Decks & The City with Claire Roche (formerly Scooter Girl of
City Channel), Irish Music Blog Award Nominee, The Golden Maverick aka
Matt Vinyl on lunchtime, and Michael Black of Stereotonic on Friday drive-time.

Power FM will also be broadcasting live from the All City Dublin Jam
this Easter Saturday afternoon 11th April at The Tivoli Theatre,
Francis St, Dublin. In addition, DJ Laz-e will also be broadcasting
highlights from the event the following day Easter Sunday from 6.00pm to 7.30pm.

The All City Jam will feature live Hip Hop, graffiti, B-Boys battles,
and a 10 strong DJ line-up that includes T-Kid & Ces from the US, and
    Kacao77 from Germany.
Photos and footage from the event will also be available online
afterwards at www.PowerFM.org and at www.all-cityrecords.com

A full FM schedule for the 10 weeks of broadcasting will be announced
    this Tuesday 6th April.

Everyone involved in the station’s current seven day live digital
schedule will be taking to the Dublin airwaves along with some very
special guests and collaborators in both music and the wider digital
    and visual arts.

Throughout the ten weeks, the station will be working with venues,
Twisted Pepper, Tripod/Pod/Crawdaddy, Fiztsimons, Bernard Shaw, Solas,
The Sugar Club; and promoters Bodytonic, Reach, Hoot, Lazybird,
Subject, and more. The station will also continue to showcase Irish
creativity with organisations such as Candy Collective and SweetTalk,
Dublin Electronic Arts Festival (DEAF), the Darklight Digital Film
Festival, and more still to be announced.

Power FM’s existing digital Monday to Thursday schedule will also
continue to run online at www.powerfm.org throughout the weeks of the
    FM broadcast.

previously began broadcasting in the back garden of a semi-detached in
    Palmerstown, Dublin in 1993.
Having moved premises to Dublin city centre in 1998, the station was
always a port of call for international artists visiting Dublin – from
Massive Attack to Berlin’s Jazzanova collective, Portishead to various
World DMC and ITF Mixing Champions, and hip hop originators like
    Afrika Bambaataa.

Power FM have won a number of Awards over the years including Best
Radio Station at the Smirnoff Dance Club Awards but was always seeking
to expand its own music programming remit and made the decision to
concentrate on developing the possibilities offered by digital
    broadcasting in 2003.

More announcements on additional digital platforms are expected in the
    coming months.
