    Hi

just wondering if anyone has had any dealings with this shop in clondalkin and how you found the after sale service, prices etc. Considering buying a new road bike from them.

    thanks.

I've only bought there once (a trubo trainer) but found Rob the owner to be very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Their prices are pretty competitive too.

I have only been in there for after sales service and the occassional wheels etc -- they have always been helpful and are extremely generous with their time. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a bike from them or utilize them for servicing. Really good bunch of guys....... and they don't laugh at silly questions.

Dont think you can go wrong there based on my own experiences. Havent bought a bike but have been in there for bits a pieces a few times and some sizing. All good experiences.

I don't think you will hear anything negative said about Wheelworx. only bought bits and pieces in there and have always been happy with the service/advice.

    cheers guys,
just new to the whole scene and looking for a first bike to train and participate in a triathlon(s) over the summer. That was my initial impression too. Was considering the starter triathlon package (Silver) with the giant defy 3 that they currently have on offer. Seems like a good deal to me......thoughts welcome!!

Just looking forward to getting in the saddle at this stage!!

Hit and miss I've found. I've been there sometimes and found them great but it depends on their mood and who's there that day. I bought a bike off them last year which came with a year's unlimited free servicing apparently. However when I brought it in for a service 10 months later, they were quite gruff when I told them it was in for the "free service" and handed me the bike back that evening completely untouched bar the rear brake for which I paid extra to have pads replaced.

The labour is free not the parts.

I'm sure they just checked everything out and found nothing wrong. Obviously they checked the brake pads.

Well there were a number of small problems with the bike when I brought it in like the gears being out of tune and the like. I would have expected them to at least adjust the gears as part of the service. They had already told me about the brake when they did a quick look over on the bike, which was before I asked them to take off the basic €30 charge. I brought it into Cycle Superstore in Tallaght a week later, paid €40 and it was like getting a new bike back.

I've found that most bike shops will only do what you specifically ask them to do. I've found the same with car garages.

Wheelworx have occasionally have thrown in a few extras for me. But I'm not gonna argue, you feel let down. Happens I suppose.

Well yes, that's fair enough. I had just figured that I'd at least get a year of correctly tuned gears out of the purchase (something I'd figure you'd get out of the most basic of bike servicing and it says they do this on the website) and was disappointed that that wasn't the case.
