Like many, I went to church as my parents made me.
But when we got back they'd be the first to say I'm glad Father X was there, he's give a quick mass. Or I wish Father Y wasn't there, he drags mass out...

I was sickened to say the least. Go to mass for the right reasons or not at all!
But I'd say many go to mass as they fear what the neighbors think of their absence. I come from a rural community, maybe this is different in towns and cities.

So I've posted a thread here and interested to know what to do in this situation.
I try to go to Mass for the right reasons. But I'd get given out to be parents who have a higher attendance then me but I believe they go to Mass for all the wrong reasons.

I doubt this is an uncommon occurance, what say ye? :)

Let me also say the PP touched on something similar today. As in if you reject the Church that's cool but don't show up expecting a Church wedding at a moments notice. Was said more diplomatically then that but you know what I mean

If mass is that important to you, then it really does not matter. The whole event is a moment where you can learn something from the wisdom of an institution that has much to teach as well as a spiritual review session. While pepole may compete about who went to mass or not what only matters is what you got out of the experience and if you show up for it again.
